Dematic Sprocket At A Glance

Good: Scalable, many features included in a mobile environment, flexible deployment options.
Bad: Space management functionality is not offered.
Bottom Line: Enterprise asset management solution that provides an intuitive experience for all business sizes.

Product Overview

Dematic Sprocket does more than provide basic CMMS features: It’s an enterprise asset management system that has an intuitive interface and can integrate with a company’s existing system (e.g., enterprise resource planning [ERP], customer relationship management [CRM]).

The benefits of using Dematic Sprocket include:

  • Improved workflow/processes are streamlined and automated
  • Reduced risks of asset/equipment breakdown
  • Reduced expenses
  • Flexibility (similar to ManagerPlus, users can choose either a self-hosted option or an SaaS monthly subscription; Sprocket can also be developed as an application program interface [API] and includes mobile access)
  • Scalability (companies have a choice of two versions and can upgrade to the higher version if needed)

Dematic Sprocket comes in two versions: Sprocket Express and Sprocket Enterprise.

Sprocket Express is intended for smaller businesses or companies with only a single location. It provides work order management, preventative maintenance, inventory management, asset management, mobile access, work request portal and reporting modules. The features within the modules are more basic (e.g., manual work assignments or creation of up to only five custom reports and dashboards).

Sprocket Enterprise provides more advanced features within each module, as well as an inspections module. It’s more for larger companies or companies with multiple locations.

We discuss more of the distinctions between each version in our Features section below.

Implementation/Integration

Each new Enterprise client enrolls in a one-year implementation program, where they work with a dedicated Success Manager. There are two types of implementation:

  • Data conversion – This option is for companies that want to migrate existing data into Sprocket. Dematic Sprocket’s implementation team handles the data migration.
  • No data conversion – This is a fresh-start option for companies that want to start using Dematic Sprocket with all new data.

Group meetings are hosted by the Success Manager at least weekly during the first two months and then monthly during the last 10 months. These meetings include discussions and reviews on data compilation (Dematic Sprocket provides customized data templates), site configuration and training.

Customer Service & Support

Depending on the version selected, users will receive the following support:

Express:

  • Quick implementation
  • Dedicated Success Manager to assist with data collection, uploading and scrubbing
  • Site set up and workflow configuration
  • Online training
  • Post go-live support for five weeks
  • Access to Knowledge Base for troubleshooting issues
  • Unlimited calls and emails to 24/7 tech support
  • Scheduled product releases on a biannual basis

  • Onsite strategy mapping with Success Manager
  • Dedicated Success Manager to assist with data collection, uploading and scrubbing
  • Site set up and workflow configuration and customization
  • Advanced report writing services
  • Enrollment in the Sprocket Success Program that includes regular scheduled meetings with Success Manager, continual process improvement, unlimited email and calls to tech support and scheduled product releases on a biannual basis

Shortcomings

Dematic Sprocket doesn’t offer space management functionality. It would require having to integrate to a space management system.
