Product Overview

Brightly (formerly Dude Solutions) offers several solutions that focus on enterprise asset management, smart automation, strategy and capacity planning and sustainability and energy. This review focuses its Asset Essentials solution.

Asset Essentials is a cloud-based maintenance solution developed for daily and advanced maintenance operations management. With the software, users can initiate, assign and track the progress of maintenance work orders; manage assets and equipment; develop advanced workflows with preventive maintenance (PM) scheduling; utilize Internet of Things (IoT) technology for predictive maintenance (PdM); and manage inventory.

In addition, the the software contains functionality for document management, reporting and mobile capabilities.

Features

Several of the key features of Asset Essentials are:

  • Workflow management that includes work order request management, automatic request routing, location- or asset-based work orders, preventive and predictive maintenance calendar scheduling, custom fields for work orders, job planner and work order prioritization
  • Work tracking and monitoring that includes a bulk work order update tool, automated email notifications on work assignments, automatic work order scheduling based on asset condition and historic data, audit trail and log tracking, high-level project tracking and certification tracking
  • Equipment/Asset management that includes cost-tracking and repair history, calendar and meter reading that are tied to preventive and predictive maintenance schedules and vendor and supplier tracking for specialized assets
  • Inventory that includes parts inventory, just-in-time inventory and purchasing and requisition management
  • Reporting and analysis with pre-defined dashboard that include KPIs, reports and charts, budget tracking, data analyzer tool and printing/exporting reports to Excel and PDF
  • A document library that supports up to 20 GB of uploads; formats supported are PDF, Microsoft Word and Excel and plain text
  • Mobile app for iOS and Android devices

Implementation/Integration

Brightly offers On-Site Services for companies that want on-site implementation. Unlike other CMMS solutions that can take up to six months for implementation, Asset Essentials can implemented within four weeks, depending on the client’s needs. On-Site Services consist of three pricing plans that are as follows:

  • One week for companies that are new to CMMS solutions: This plan covers the costs of travel and hotel for Dude Solutions implementation staff, on-site training and system implementation and configuration.
  • Two weeks for companies that are new to CMMS solutions but have inventory management needs: This plan covers everything in the one-week plan but includes inventory management focus.
  • Three to four weeks for companies transitioning from an existing CMMS solution: This plan covers all factors of the other two plans, but it adds data transfer and data organization.

Brightly provides unlimited online training classes at no cost for users that need a refresher or for new employees.

Customer Service & Support

All clients are assigned a dedicated Client Success team member. Clients can also reach support by phone, email, or chat. Support is included in the plan, so there’s no extra cost.

Pricing

The Brightly Asset Essentials solution is available as an annual subscription and covers the features mentioned in our Features section above.  Companies can also purchase the Enterprise version for an additional annual fee. The Enterprise version include advanced workflow management, advanced rule expression, tagging, multi-site management, data import utility, custom report designer, unlimited custom fields, role configuration, field title customization and custom define statuses and priority.

Brightly offers add-ons, such as an integration suite, capital forecasting and consulting services. There’s an additional annual fee per feature.

Shortcomings

Brightly does not offer on-premise deployment, so companies that want to host the software will have to look elsewhere. It also serves specific niche industries, although it has started to branch into other industries.
