WorkBoard At A Glance

Good: Accessible from any device, easy tool for capturing notes and action items in 1on1 meetings, chatbot that uses AI and machine learning to find relevant answers.
Bad: Not designed to measure an individual employee's performance, learning curve for companies that have never implemented OKR strategy.
Bottom Line: OKR management solution that helps companies clearly define and measure their objectives and goals.

Product Overview

WorkBoard is a results and strategy management solution that guides companies in setting and measuring their organizational objectives and key results (OKRs). Once those objectives and strategies are set, they’re accessible to the relevant teams (e.g., Marketing, Sales, Finance), so employees can see how their personal goals align with those objectives.

In WorkBoard, users can easily create, share and measure OKRs. At the start of each quarter, organizational and team leaders define clear and measurable objectives they want to hit and then communicate them with employees. Actionable data results are displayed and tracked throughout the quarter, so users stay on top of meeting their goals.

WorkBoard provides tips on setting and communicating OKRs, such as three to five key objectives to accomplish and four to six measurable outcomes per objective. For example, if the marketing team’s goal is to help the sales team open and close new deals, the specific outcomes could range from setting up a specific number of demos to sending the sales team a specific number of inbound leads.

Additional benefits of WorkBoard include:

  • More efficient processes, as all data is stored in one place
  • Relevant, personalized accounts for everyone in the organization, regardless of their role
  • Quick access to data from any device
  • Native integration to Slack, Microsoft Teams and Jira for easier collaboration

Features

In addition to creating and measuring OKRs, key features are:

Collaboration and meetings – Users can share their files and create discussions via the software. WorkBoard allows the manager or team leader to set up group or 1on1 meetings. In group meetings, OKRs are captured in the agenda, and the minute taker can record important takeaways or action items. Those minutes are published automatically. In 1on1 meetings, the manager leads coaching conversations based on the OKRs listed on the agenda, and any notes are recorded in WorkBoard’s journaling feature.

Project management – Users can create and track projects that align with their OKRs. WorkBoard includes project management features, such as workflows, Gantt charts and calendars.

One-click functionality – Users can share OKRs, strategic plans, project updates and reports in a single click via email or Slack.

Chat interface – The WoBot is a chatbot that’s embedded within Slack and Microsoft Team and uses AI and machine learning to find and deliver important answers to a user’s question (e.g., project updates). Meeting organizers can check everyone’s calendar availability via Slack and Microsoft Teams, and the WoBot can send meeting reminders, share agendas or reschedule meetings.

Target Market

WorkBoard is intended for large enterprises that need a single solution for creating, visualizing and tracking objectives across multiple teams and locations. It also benefits smaller companies that want to measure OKRs but don’t need advanced features.

In addition, the OKR Coach Certification program trains executives and managers on facilitating OKR strategies within their organization.

In the first quarter after the software goes live, WorkBoard provides guidance to users in setting up OKRs and best practices on tracking and maximizing their results.

Finally, WorkBoard integrates to many applications, such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, Office 365, Jira Software, Salesforce, SAP and Power BI.

Customer Service & Support

All users receive email and web support. Phone support is available for the WorkBoard for Enterprise plan members.

Pricing

WorkBoard has two pricing plans that are based on company size. Note that there’s no monthly billing, so companies will have to pay annually.

WorkBoard for Teams – At $20 per user, per month, this plan is geared toward small teams. Some of its features are the ability to define and measure OKRs, scheduling group and 1on1 meetings, share up to 5 GB of files, and integrate to Slack, Outlook, Google and other applications.

WorkBoard for Enterprise – WorkBoard for Enterprise is priced at $50 per user, per month and is intended for companies that have at least 150 users. Additional features include more advanced OKR functionality (including OKR alignment and dependency visualization), unlimited file sharing, role-based access and single sign-on.

Shortcomings

While managers can use WorkBoard to provide feedback to their employees, the software is not designed to accommodate performance reviews or effectively measure employees’ performance. In addition, companies that have never used OKRs may find it challenging at first, but WorkBoard provides coaching services during the first quarter after launch.
