Rippling At A Glance

Good: Ability to onboard and offboard employees in 90 seconds, fast implementation process, integration to over 500 apps.
Bad: Phone support isn't offered.
Bottom Line: Cloud-based solution that helps businesses easily manage their HR, IT and finance functions in one place.

Product Overview

Rippling is a cloud-based system that provides companies a way to manage their HR, IT and finance tasks in a central location. Therefore, administrators don’t need to worry about updating employee data in multiple places, which enhances productivity.

The software has several additional benefits, including:

  • Ability to onboard and offboard an employee in 90 seconds
  • Quick implementation
  • Scalability as companies’ needs grow
  • Integration with over 500 cloud-based applications (e.g., Gmail, Slack, Salesforce)
  • Flexible customer support for both U.S. and international companies

When it comes to the HR, IT and finance offerings, companies can purchase individual modules or all of them together.

Rippling’s IT platform automates common tasks while keeping data secure. IT staff can remotely manage employees’ devices as well as add or revoke employee access to any app the company uses. Other features include password management and advanced security tools (e.g., hard drive encryption, multifactor authentication).

Rippling’s Finance Cloud platform lets companies manage their employee spend. They can review, approve and reimburse employees’ expenses. They can also assign employees a dedicate corporate credit card, where they can determine credit limit and usage policies. Finally, Rippling has announced a new bill paying feature that allows companies to pay their vendors. This feature will be available in the near future.

Features

Companies can customize specific data fields, branding and workflows to fit their needs. Administrators can create checklists and assign specific tasks with deadlines to managers and employees.

Rippling has self-service features for employees, such as viewing paychecks, managing their leave balances, requesting time off and changing benefits information, all included in the mobile app.

The software also has robust payroll features, such as unlimited pay runs, choice of direct deposits or checks, new hire reporting, garnishments and workers comp. Companies can easily pay their employees and contractors regardless of country location. Federal, state and local tax filing are supported as well as I-9, W2, W4 and 1099 forms. Administrators can assign specific users to payroll tasks (e.g., asking sales managers to add commissions to payroll runs).

Administrators can also manage all of their benefit offerings in one place. They can easily transfer their existing plans to Rippling so there’s no need for anyone to re-enroll into benefits plans. And companies that are looking for new benefits plan can either work with Rippling’s licensed broker network or their own agent to develop one. Employees can sign up during open enrollment and also change their deductions and add/remove dependents. The software then automatically recalculates the deductions and syncs that data to the payroll module. Finally, Rippling handles benefits payments and notices for COBRA, ACA and other mandates, so companies continuously stay in compliance.

Ripping has a time and attendance feature that lets employees clock in and out via a tablet, the Rippling mobile app or their computer. It comes with fully configurable workflows, so managers can set rules and triggers for events like overtime, missed breaks and unauthorized hours. Approved hours sync with the payroll module, so users won’t need to export data. Additional features include job codes, reporting and geolocation restrictions.

Finally, Rippling has talent management features to help companies improve their acquisition and development. With the recruiting features, recruiters can efficiently post jobs, schedule and manage interviews, onboard new hires and measure their hiring processes. Rippling also has a built-in learning management system that lets users automate redundant training tasks (e.g., course enrollment). Users can choose from a library of courses or build their own content by uploading a SCORM-certified package. Additional LMS features include quizzes, certification management, compliance training management and progress tracking. And last but not least, Rippling offers compensation/headcount planning and employee engagement surveys.
