Product Overview

Alongside is an applicant tracking system that’s designed to help businesses streamline their hiring process and provide better communication with job candidates. Recruiters can promote job positions, manage the hiring pipeline, collaborate with the hiring team and track recruiting metrics all within Alongside. Alongside is also bilingual – job applicants can either apply in English or French.

Alongside provides a choice of four scalable plans (specific pricing for them is in our Pricing section below):

  • Basic – The Basic plan covers one active job, three user accounts and email support.
  • Standard – The Standard plan accommodates up to three active jobs, five user accounts, and includes email and chat support.
  • Premium – The Premium plan includes up to five active jobs, 10 user accounts and phone, email and chat support.
  • Enterprise – The Enterprise plan covers up to 10 active jobs, 20 user accounts, and the ability to manage multiple companies. Phone, email and chat support is also included.

Features

Here are some of the key features of Alongside:

Candidate sourcing – To attract job applicants, Alongside provides tools for companies to create a customized career page and easy-to-apply job postings. Job postings are then distributed to over 30 job boards, such as LinkedIn, CareerBuilder, Indeed and Glassdoor. Recruiters can also share the postings on a company’s social media channels.

Alongside also provides recommendations on which job boards to post the job to based on location or industry. Recruiters can also save specific job boards as favorites for future use. There is also a question feature with four question types (yes/no, short answer, long answer and multiple choice) that allows the recruiter to get more information from the applicant.

Team collaboration – Alongside offers a variety of collaboration features. First, the hiring team can share impressions on a candidate with the notes feature. The hiring team can simply add real-time notes within the candidate profile. Team members can be tagged within the note.

There is also a voting system where the hiring team can give a thumbs-up or thumbs-down on a given candidate.

If the recruiter needs to get feedback from colleagues outside the hiring team, they can share the candidate’s application using the Share Candidate feature. The application and message to the colleague can be sent via email.

Candidate management – Alongside has a resume import feature that automatically creates a candidate profile from the information in the resume. It also includes advanced resume parsing tools to find and extract relevant information.

Other candidate management features include an interactive hiring pipeline that provides a high-level overview of the process, smart candidate filters for selecting specific candidate profiles and customizable bulk messaging templates.

Candidate application – Alongside provides several features that help enhance the candidate application experience. One of those features is the quick apply option where candidates are given a choice of submitting a resume, a previous application or their LinkedIn profile.

There is also the Apply Later feature that candidates can select on their mobile devices to apply for a job at a later date. Alongside then sends the candidate a reminder via email.

Reporting and analytics – Recruiters can track their hiring metrics with Alongside’s built-in analytics tool. They can track data on job boards, social recruiting and referrals.

Implementation/Integration

Prospective clients can demo the solution and participate in the 14-day free trial. After the trial, clients can choose the pricing plan based on their needs. The implementation timeline is generally shorter as Alongside is a cloud-based solution.

Alongside integrates with a company’s career page, Facebook and human resource management systems (HRMS), such as BambooHR. Alongside can also perform custom integration if a client requests it.

Customer Service & Support

Alongside offers email, phone and chat support during regular business hours. Users can also access guides and templates to help with their hiring workflows.

Pricing

Here is the specific pricing of each plan (note that Alongside offers three free months if clients choose the annual subscription plan):

  • Basic: $35 a month ($25 if paid annually)
  • Standard: $65 a month ($47 if paid annually)
  • Premium: $99 a month ($71 if paid annually)
  • Enterprise: $160 a month ($115 if paid annually)

Shortcomings

Alongside doesn’t offer onboarding or background checks, however, new hire information can be exported into a company’s HRMS. Also, it’s not available in other languages aside from French and English.
