Product Overview

Pilat offers both customizable and “out of the box” talent management solutions that are designed to help companies maximize their employees’ potential. It’s a cloud-based software with an intuitive interface.

In response to trends in performance management, where organizations are moving away from a traditional annual appraisal model to a more continuous approach, Pilat recently released two new editions. These editions are intended for companies that either want just performance management features, or those that want both performance management and other talent management functions.

  • Pilat First – Pilat First is an “out of the box” solution intended for companies that are transitioning into continuous performance management. It includes all of Pilat’s performance management features, such as setting development goals, alignment with company objectives and regular check-ins. Designed to be cost-effective and easy to implement, it’s an ideal vehicle to support employee engagement and empowerment objectives. The optional Talent Management module supports organizations that require HR data to be used for analyzing the potential of their employees. Functionality includes succession planning, creation of talent pools and methods for HR to provide strategic information back to the business.
  • Pilat Professional – Pilat Professional includes all of the functionality of Pilat First but allows for an element of customization to cater for current company processes. It includes additional features, such as the facility to give and receive feedback and the inclusion of competencies.

For larger companies that require a fully customized performance and talent management solution, Pilat continues to offer Pilat Enterprise.


Here are some of the key features of Pilat’s performance management and talent management modules:

Performance management

  • Ability for managers to view all priorities, goals, check-ins and other information for all team members within a single dashboard
  • Ability for mangers and employees to set performance objectives and development goals at any time
  • Customization of performance appraisal process
  • Performance/goal target dates with the ability to track these metrics
  • Ability for employees to request feedback from and send feedback to managers and peers
  • Scheduler for regular check-ins to review goals/performance
  • Ability to set action items to achieve performance and goals

Talent management

  • Employee career summary portal that includes resume, education history, certifications, qualifications and learning development
  • Manager talent assessment on factors such as performance, retention risk, succession planning and employee promotion opportunities
  • Talent review process available as a 9-box grid calibration dashboard, or via action plans

Pilat’s 360-degree feedback Multi-Rater module has more tools to help employees rate themselves and gather feedback from their managers and peers. It includes a variety of assessment questionnaires that rate an employee on various factors, such as interpersonal skills, accountability and teamwork. Managers can also use the tools within Multi-Rater to track and analyze team performance.

And finally, the Gauge by Pilat job evaluation module allows companies to objectively rate each job role to promote fairness and transparency. This module measures the job, rather than the person holding it, based on a variety of skills, requirements and other factors. The job evaluation can be completed within an hour, and scores are linked to each question’s response. The evaluation can be done by the employee who’s in the role, managers or HR/hiring managers.

Both modules can be customized with a company’s branding and are available in multiple languages.

Clients work with Pilat’s project management team to get the solution deployed. Because Pilat is customized to fit the client’s requirements, the exact methodology and timelines vary per client. However, Pilat uses a general methodology referred to as Process and System Review and Specification (PASRAS). Some of the components of PASRAS include:

  • Discussing the client’s business case, goals and requirements
  • Getting buy-in from the client’s internal teams and stakeholders
  • Developing and signing-off on a design and implementation plan
  • Ensuring the solution is robust while being easy to use

Pilat also integrates with human resource management systems (HRMS) and learning management software.
