Product Overview

HireGround’s StartDate is a cloud-based applicant tracking system, which provides a more efficient hiring process and reduces the overall cost to hire. Other benefits include:

  • Mobile friendly, which makes it easier for applicants to apply from any device
  • Custom screening and applicant management workflows
  • Easy-to-use intuitive interface

As StartDate is in the cloud, pricing is license-based depending on the number of users. Furthermore, the price includes unlimited training and support, implementation, and a secure private database to search and store unlimited resumes.

StartDate can be integrated with a company’s other systems via application program interface (API), including payroll and human resource management systems (HRMS).

StartDate has strong security features, especially permissions for specific users. It has four user types that can be added, edited or deleted:

  • Recruiter: Users at this level can post and manage jobs, as well as view candidates in all jobs.
  • Hiring Manager: Users at the Hiring Manager level can only see and provide feedback on specific candidates they’re assigned to.
  • Admin: Admins can access the system settings to manage features.
  • Super Admin: The Super Admin has access to everything in the software.


StartDate includes many features, such as:

  • Ability to search for job candidates by name, location, keyword and date
  • Online applications that job candidates can fill out via mobile device without having to create an account
  • Ability to create custom application questions
  • Resume parsing when uploaded
  • Custom workflows for managing hiring process
  • Built-in templates for creating job positions
  • Ability to schedule, edit or cancel job postings at any time
  • Ability to post job positions to job boards and social media sites (LinkedIn, Facebook, Indeed, Glassdoor, HireGroundJobs, etc.)
  • Ability to post jobs internally so current employees can apply
  • Ability to score candidates’ qualifications based on questionnaire
  • Ability to manage candidates by ranking and filtering to compare qualifications
  • Ability to collaborate with hiring team for feedback on candidates
  • Automatic rejection emails to candidates
  • Reports that can be customized based on job positions, applications, where jobs are posted and more

Unlike other systems that can take weeks or months to be deployed, StartDate can be deployed in approximately four days. This includes software installation and any configurations needed.

Clients work with a dedicated HireGround project manager and have the opportunity to create and post jobs as a test before going live.

HireGround offers training on StartDate via webinars or phone, with sessions lasting no more than an hour. It’s also willing to train new employees who will be using StartDate.

There are a few features not currently available on StartDate that users have requested, such as the ability to apply for jobs with a social media profile and access resumes on Dropbox and Google Drive.

Recruiters would like a better way to identify specific jobs in the jobs list and have wished for more communication options with candidates.

HireGround has plans to incorporate these requested features in a future upgrade.
