BirdDogHR provides a variety of cloud-based solutions that automate, streamline and improve the employee life cycle, which are touched on in our BirdDogHR Talent Management Review. For this review, we’ll be focusing only on its recruitment and applicant tracking systems (ATS).

BirdDogHR is an all-encompassing recruitment solution that has features to streamline every step of the hiring cycle, from employment branding and job distribution to applicant management and compliance reporting.

The solution is designed to help companies make better decisions, organize candidate information and accelerate the hiring process. This is done by:

The goal of BirdDogHR’s recruitment and ATS solution is to alleviate hiring headaches by simplifying time-consuming tasks to attract top talent. By doing this, hiring managers can focus more on making the right decision the first time, saving time and money.

Some of the ATS features include:

  • Employment branding – The ATS is able to integrate into a company’s career page. This includes a keyword and location search function, making it easier for applicants to find jobs while improving their overall experience. It also allows the company to customize its branding and process flow by company division.
  • Job distribution – With BirdDogHR, a hiring manager can easily post to multiple job boards at once. The distribution network has over 350 free and niche job boards, including multiple that are specific to veterans. A company can also opt to attract top talent from fee-based boards if desired. To expand the candidate pool, this feature includes social sharing to platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Google+.
  • Candidate management – This feature allows a hiring manager to easily screen and rank applicants side-by-side to make the best decision for the position. The module has a repository for job description, application and email templates to streamline communication between managers and candidates. It also keeps all candidate data in a central location, making it easy to retrieve vital information like background and drug screenings, resumes, assessments and more.
  • Compliance reporting – BirdDogHR specifically focuses on hiring federal contractors and subcontractors. To make sure its clients meet standards, it’s updated its software with the latest Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) regulations. It also provides clients with the documents for Affirmative Action Plan (AAP) and VEVRAA/Section 503 reporting for audits.

Some customers have mentioned a desire for more flexibility in the candidate sorting and filtering functions. Currently BirdDogHR’s application process is limited to English and Spanish, where as the candidate management is in English only.

While some complain that updates require patching, the support team is always quick to resolve any technology issues that occur.

BirdDog’s Onboarding features are a separate solution from the ATS, resulting in an additional cost.
