Product Overview

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite is a cloud-based HRM platform that streamlines processes and helps companies successfully manage their talent. It provides Core HR features that’s available in three modules:

  • Employee Central
  • Employee Central Payroll
  • Employee Central Service Center

The Employee Central module helps large companies easily manage their diverse and global workforce. The module supports multiple languages, calendars, time zones and currencies. It also automatically updates any data that relates to legal or regulatory changes so companies stay in compliance.

The module also includes an organizational charts that shows relationships among the locations, divisions, and teams. Employees have their own profile that shows a photo, current role, contact information, and any special skills they have.

The Employee Central Payroll module provides three-click payroll processing with real-time monitoring. It supports over 40 countries so it’s able to calculate country-specific taxes.

The Employee Central Service Center module helps HR better address employees’ questions and needs. Employees can access relevant company and benefits information within a knowledge base, as well as contact HR directly via the Ask HR feature.

SAP SuccessFactors also provides Strategic HR features through its Talent Solutions. The solutions are broken into four main modules:

  • Recruiting and onboarding
  • Learning and development
  • Performance and compensation
  • Workforce planning and analytics

Each module is then broken down into individual components. For example, the learning and development module is composed of three separate components: SAP SuccessFactors Learning, SAP SuccessFactors Succession and Development, and SAP Enable Now.

SAP SuccessFactors provides a variety of implementation services that range from prepackaged implementation plans to companies that want a fully customized solution. Its Advisory Services team meets with the client to discuss the client’s unique requirements and figure out the best practice of SuccessFactors deployment.

SAP SuccessFactors also employ an integration delivery team to help clients integrate SuccessFactors with either other SAP products or the client’s existing applications. 

Training is provided by the SAP Education system. SAP offers instructor-led specialized training and certification programs for a variety of SuccessFactors modules. SAP also offers a subscription-based service called SAP Learning Hub for users to access any training content on any of its products anywhere. 

Customer Service & Support

The SAP Enterprise support package includes a variety of offerings for users. First, there is the customer community for users to communicate and share ideas on issues with the software or on general HR topics. There is also a support portal for browsing through articles and videos and submitting support requests. Users can also reach out to support via live chat. And users can learn more about SuccessFactors via webinars. 

SAP offers its SAP Preferred Care option for clients that want to work with a dedicated support manager. This option provides mission-critical support and best practice for escalating support issues.  For example, a priority 4 support (low priority support) response time would be within eight hours rather than two business days that SAP Enterprise support provides. The customer support manager also provides guidance in scaling or down the solution, as well as help in navigating new product releases.

Some users have reported that SAP SuccessFactors can be challenging to learn and not always intuitive. Also, users have reported that customer service support tends to be slow – in one instance, it can take a week or two for a simple support ticket resolution.
