Product Overview

SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite is a cloud-based Human Experience Management (HXM) platform that empowers small and midsize businesses to successfully improve employee engagement. HXM is a new terminology that puts a the core focus on a company’s employees and providing them with the tools to do great work. SAP SuccessFactors builds upon their existing HRMS products, and the HXM Suite focuses on these four pillars:

  • An intuitive interface that’s personalized for each employee
  • Helping companies understand how their employees feel using insights that combine feedback data with operational HR data
  • Deep and innovative capabilities for strategic HR
  • Open and extensible platform that allows integration with other business systems

The HXM Suite is broken down into four categories:

Features

Employee Experience Management (SAP Qualtrics) – This suite helps employers manage the employee lifecycle and improve engagement. It’s broken down into five modules

  • SAP Qualtrics Employee Engagement – With this solution, managers can source employee feedback and use HR insights to understand what’s going on in the organization. They can use best-practice engagement surveys or build their own with the survey builder. Managers can track engagement efforts and other metrics with role-based dashboards and customizable reports. They can also track action plans, as well as use the Text iQ feature to help understand the “why” behind employee feedback.
  • Qualtrics Employee XM for IT – This solution helps organizations ensure that their IT resources help employees do their jobs more successfully, especially in the age of remote work. Some of its features include key-driver analysis, real-time dashboards, AI-powered text analytics and digital ticketing.
  • SAP Qualtrics Employee Lifecycle – The Employee Lifecycle module has two main benefits: optimizing the onboarding process and understanding why top performers are leaving the company. There are a few main features that help companies achieve those benefits: detailed analysis, role-based dashboards, real-time alerts for at-risk staff, built-in reports and automated employee surveys. This module integrates with the SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central.
  • SAP Qualtrics 360 Feedback – With this module, managers can source feedback from the employee’s coworkers and clients. It comes with configurable surveys and workflows and actionable reports. Organizations can also leverage the Qualtrics Institute for best practices in performance management and other HR functions.
  • SAP Qualtrics Employee Benefits Optimizer – The Employee Benefits Optimizer helps organizations provide the best benefits package to their employees. Users can run models and simulation using their employee data and gather feedback from employees with benefits surveys. The module also includes guided workflows and real-time conjoint analysis features.

Core HR and Payroll – There are several modules that help HR streamline their processes. They are:

  • SAP Successfactors Employee Central – The Employee Central module stores all employee data in one place and enables organizations to adhere to global compliance with localized best practices. Several of its features include time and attendance management, benefits management, organizational management and compliance management.
  • SAP Successfactors Employee Central Payroll – The payroll module included embedded localization that supports more than 45 countries. It also includes automated payroll calculations, employee self-service, tax compliance and integration with other HRIS and time management systems.
  • SAP Successfactors Employee Central Service Center – This module helps HR staff with employee questions or issues. Employees can open a ticket by phone, chat or email, as well as review the ticket status, in the Ask HR portal. Additional features are an integrated knowledge base, ticket routing and Service Level Agreement (SLA) compliance.
  • SAP Successfactors Visa and Permits Management – The software supports complex visa and permits management and optimizes the hiring process for global employees. A few of its features include workflow automation, real-time insights and configurable scenarios.
  • SAP Successfactors Document Management – Powered by OpenText, this document management module provides a centralized location of HR files. Employees can use the text search functionality to find a specific document. Additional features include templates, batch processing and compliance management.

Talent Management – SAP SuccessFactors has several modules in their talent management space, which are:

  • SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting – SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting includes robust features for streamlining the hiring process. It accommodates up to 46 languages, so recruiters can source talent from around the world. They can set up a global career site that span multiple brands and languages. The software also includes intelligent technology to help companies eliminate hiring bias and make fair and equitable decisions. Additional features include application management and candidate relationship management.
  • SAP Fieldglass Contingent Workforce Management – This module empowers recruiters to find and manage their contingent workforce, such as temps, contractors or freelancers. Some of the features include recruiting, timesheet approvals, onboarding/offboarding and performance management.
  • SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding and SAP Signature Management – New hires can get a personalized onboarding portal that introduces them to their new colleagues and role. They can also fill out electronic forms and provide a signature with the SAP Signature Management feature. The onboarding tool also supports offboarding and cross-boarding (e.g., internal transfers, promotions) tasks.
  • SAP SuccessFactors Performance & Goals – The module supports continuous performance management and can be customized to meet an organization’s unique needs. Users can choose from a library of 500 prebuilt goals that can be aligned with a team or company-wide objectives. Other features include 360-degree feedback, a writing assistant that guides users in providing feedback, a legal scan that checks for inappropriate language in performance reviews and mobile goal management.
  • SAP SuccessFactors Compensation Management – Users can build compensation programs that align with business strategy. Some of the features include real-time budget insights, budget modeling, compensation practice templates, employee recognition programs and personalized compensation statements.
  • SAP SuccessFactors Learning – Companies can offer learning programs to new hires and current employees that are looking to grow within the organization. SAP SuccessFactors Learning allows them to provide off-the-shelf courses from SAP Content Stream and other content providers. Users can track compliance training requirements with automated assignments and reporting. Organizations can also sell their courses with the eCommerce functionality.
  • SAP SuccessFactors Succession & Development – With this module, organizations can identify and retain their top performers. Some of the features are an organizational chart for succession planning, dynamic talent pools, continuous employee development and drag-and-drop calibration tools.

HR Analytics & Workforce Planning – SAP SuccessFactors has three main modules to enable organizations to analyze their people data to manage operational headcounts, participate in strategic planning initiatives and make better business decisions. The modules are:

  • SAP SuccessFactors Workplace Analytics – This module includes a standard metrics catalog of over 2,000 HR and talent metrics and includes guidance to users on interpreting the data. It also has interactive dashboards and reports, and users can drill down into specific data (e.g., diversity, turnover) with the data exploration tool. The module integrates with third-party applications, so users can see their data in one system.
  • SAP Digital Boardroom – The SAP Digital Boardroom tools gives the C-level executives real-time context into their business data, and they can create ad-hoc or what-if analysis for further insights. It also includes predefined queries, data models, visualization and best-practices content, and
  • SAP Analytics Cloud – HR leaders can engage in strategic workforce planning methods with the SAP Analytics Cloud. It combines business intelligence, enterprise planning and augmented analytics capabilities in one platform. Some of its features include interactive visualizations with drilling/filtering functionalities, natural language processing, data cleansing, predictive forecasting and collaboration.

Implementation/Integration

SAP SuccessFactors provides a variety of implementation services that range from prepackaged implementation plans to companies that want a fully customized solution. Its Advisory Services team meets with the client to discuss the client’s unique requirements and figure out the best practice of deployment.

The vendor employs an integration delivery team to help clients integrate SuccessFactors with other SAP products or the client’s existing applications. 

SAP offers instructor-led specialized training and certification programs for a variety of SuccessFactors modules. It also has a subscription-based service called SAP Learning Hub that gives users the ability to access any training content on any of its products anywhere. 

Customer Service & Support

The SAP Enterprise support package includes a variety of offerings for users. First, there is the customer community for users to communicate and share ideas on issues with the software or on general HR topics. There is also a support portal for browsing through articles and videos and submitting support requests. Users can also reach out to support via live chat. And users can learn more about SuccessFactors via webinars. 

There’s also the SAP Preferred Success option for clients that want to work with a dedicated support manager. It provides mission-critical support and best practice for escalating support issues. For example, a priority 4 support (low priority support) response time would be within eight hours rather than two business days that SAP Enterprise support provides. The customer support manager also provides guidance in scaling or down the solution, as well as help in navigating new product releases.
