Ramco ERP At A Glance

Good: Ability to perform tasks on a single screen, mobile functionality with geo-location capabilities, HCM modules with robust features.
Bad: Too robust for a small business.
Bottom Line: Agile and flexible ERP solution that streamlines and automates business processes for complex environments.

Product Overview

Ramco ERP is a cloud-based enterprise resource planning software that gives companies the freedom to access their data anytime and anywhere, even if away from the office. Like other ERPs, Ramco ERP replaces separate systems and lets businesses manage their operations from one integrated platform.

Ramco ERP is built from the ground up and uses an in-memory engine to help make complex tasks simpler. It has several additional benefits, such as:

  • Flexibility and agility to fit a company’s unique business needs
  • Mobile functionality with GPS geo-location feature and is adaptable to all devices, including the Pebble Watch wearable smartwatch
  • Intuitive user interface via the HUB, where users can perform all tasks on a single screen instead of separate screens
  • The ability for users to perform tasks by short emails rather than logging into the system
  • Integration to a variety of applications, including social media tools for further collaboration

Ramco ERP is also context-aware, meaning it provides real-time, relevant data to answer a user’s question based on the user’s job role, location and access privileges.

While it’s deployed in both public and private cloud environments, Ramco ERP does have on-premise deployment for companies that prefer that option. It supports Microsoft, Linux and iOS operating systems.

Features

In this section, we’ll focus on Ramco ERP’s core modules:

Finance and accounting – This module helps businesses streamline their accounting tasks. Because it supports multinational companies, it also supports multiple currencies. Some of the components this module offers are general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets accounting and management accounting. There’s also a global taxation solution designed to accommodate country-specific taxes.

Supply chain management – This module includes components that help companies manage their supply and demand. Those components are sales and distribution, inventory management, supplier relationship management and customer relationship management. Note that the supplier relationship management component includes a supplier portal so a company’s vendors can access and act on up-to-date information.

Production and manufacturing – With this module, companies manage their product life cycles amidst changing customer demands and business processes. It can be tailored to both discrete and process manufacturing. In the discrete production module, companies can track estimated and actual production costs, manage work orders and keep tabs on engineering changes. For planning purposes, companies can use tools such as Master Production Schedule (MPS), Materials Requirement Planning (MRP), Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) and Rough Cut Capacity Planning.

Quality management – The quality management module lets companies check the quality of various processes that range from manufacturing and distribution to project tasks. Some of the features of the module include providing in-process inspection and clearance, defining control points, defining inspection plans for each control point, capturing analysis methods for each attribute and suggesting item changes based on inspection feedback.

Human capital management (HCM) – With the HCM module, companies manage the employee lifecycle from hire to retire. The module includes features such as workforce management, recruiting, talent management, employee development, payroll and benefits, and workforce planning.

Project management – Companies can plan and track projects with this module. Some of its features include project administration, project planning, project tracking, project billing, project accounting and project profitability.

Ramco Systems also has dedicated solutions for enterprise asset management and dealer management.
