Product Overview
Haufe’s umantis Talent Management platform comes in 3 different packages:
umantis Recruit: The recruiting package features an applicant management system, a career portal, and an onboarding function. Users can post jobs on their company site, as well as career sites and social media. Users can also create a custom newsletter that updates job openings that applicants can subscribe to. Companies can even keep a database of applicants and HR and hiring managers can collaborate in hiring applicants. With the onboarding solution, new hires can fill out electronic forms and learn new information about the company and role before their first day.
umantis Perform: One notable module is the employee review meeting – managers and employees can create and work on objectives and tasks involving an employee’s performance. Managers have a single dashboard that displays the name, job titles, and the status of their performance development (i.e. whether or not the employee has high potential with their development). Other modules include evaluations and compensation. Within the evaluation module, managers can write performance reviews within the system, as well as gather 360-degree feedback (including third parties such as outside clients). The compensation module allows managers to determine bonuses and raises based on performance that fits within the company’s budget.
umantis Develop: This package has three modules: skills, learning, and succession planning. The skills module allows managers to track their employees’ development and assign projects based on their strengths, as well as provide training to further their professional development. The learning module helps managers in providing training and educational resources for their employees. Employees can take either a formal or an informal training and register for courses themselves. There is also an event management functionality for companies that provide offsite conferences or training – this functionality tracks agendas, hotel registration, and course materials. And finally, the succession planning module helps managers in determining who will fill key roles that opens as a result of an employee transferring to new role or leaving the company.

Haufe’s solution is generally installed in the cloud (SaaS). However, unlike other HR vendors, clients can opt to have it installed on their servers – this is a benefit for companies that prefer the control and security of having their data strictly available on their premises.
Haufe partners with other companies (i.e. HR Campus and Promerit) in implementing its software. It offers three types of implementation: Expresso Mini, Expresso, and Expresso Lungo. Haufe notes that depending on the package selected, companies should expect the implementation timeline to be two to five months.
The implementation strategy has these 5 steps:
* Kick-off
* Deviation from process
* Adaptations
* Training
* Review and end of project

Shortcomings
Haufe is not as well known in the United States (their San Francisco office has opened in January 2014 and the umantis software has only been in the U.S. market since 2014) , however that may change as Haufe continues to expand their market beyond Europe.
