Product Overview
In late 2019, Xerox introduced a new line of production-oriented MFPs known as PrimeLink. The PrimeLink family includes upgraded print technology, flexible media options, additional security features and the ability to improve productivity with Xerox App Gallery of tools. This review focuses on the PrimeLink C9065 and C9070, which are two color production printers.
The PrimeLink C9065 prints at up to 70 ppm in black and 65 ppm in color, while the PrimeLink C9070 has an engine speed of 75 ppm in black and 70 ppm in color. Both printers has a monthly duty cycle of 300,000 pages, but Xerox recommends an average of 10,000 to 60,000 pages per month.
The devices come with the Xerox Integrated Color Server that has a 1.6 GHz dual-core processor, 4 GB of memory and a 320 GB hard drive. There’s also a 10.4″ color touchscreen flat panel. The server supports a variety of printing languages, including PCL, PostScript and PDF. As mentioned, there’s the Xerox App Gallery that allows users to customize their printer with the variety of applications that best fit their needs.
The PrimeLink C9065 and C9070 printers support mobile printing and scanning. The @PrintByXerox app lets users print documents from any email-enabled device without having to download software. The printers also supports printing from and scanning to any of these cloud accounts: Microsoft OneDrive, Microsoft 365, Box, Google Drive and Dropbox.
Xerox also offers three optional Fiery print servers for companies that want additional printing capabilities. Details on these servers, as well as other features, are in our Features section below.
Features
The standard paper capacity is 3,260 sheets which consists of two trays of 500 sheets each, a 870-sheet tray, a 1,140-sheet tray and a 250-sheet bypass. There’s an optional 2,000-sheet high-capacity feeder, but users can also purchase an one-tray 2,000-sheet oversized high-capacity feeder or a two-tray 4,000-sheet oversized high-capacity feeder. The maximum paper capacity is 7,260 sheets. Users can print a wide range of paper, including postcards, brochures, posters and more, at up to 350 gsm in weight.
There’s an optional 500-sheet offsetting output tray and Xerox offers a variety of finishing options. There’s the Business Ready finisher for lighter production needs. It includes a 500-sheet top tray, 3,000-sheet stacker and up to 50-sheet multiposition stapling. There’s also the Business Ready booklet maker with a 500-sheet top tray, a 1,500-sheet stacker and up to 16-sheet saddlestitching.
Next, there’s the Production Ready finisher that has a 500-sheet top tray, a 3,000-sheet stacker and a bi-directional decurler. There’s a separate booklet maker that saddlestitches up to 20-page booklet and has a 500-sheet tray and a 2,000-sheet stacker. Xerox offers additional options, such as a hole punch kit, a C/Z folder and a 250-sheet inserter. There’s also the Production Ready Finisher Plus option that provides the same features but connects to third-party inline finishing options.
Finally, additional finishing options include a 30-sheet Squarefold trimmer module, the two-sided trimmer, a 50-sheet convenience stapler and the Plockmatic Pro 50/35 booklet maker.
The printers include an integrated scanner with a 250-sheet duplexing automatic document feeder and supports encrypted PDF, searchable PDF and single-touch scanning. Users can scan to a number of destinations, including desktop, USB, email, SMB and more.
Xerox includes many standard security features, such as secure print, secure scanning, user authentication, data encryption, audit logs, disk overwrite and more.
As mentioned, there are three optional Fiery print servers. First, the EX-c C9065/C9070 Print Server includes a 2.4 GHz processor, 2 GB of memory and a 320 GB hard drive. It also has Ethernet connectivity, mobile printing, duplexing, the ability to add watermarks and scheduled printing. The server is intended for businesses that need to efficiently print color documents with rich graphics.
Then, there’s the EX-i C9065/C9070 Print Server with a 3.7 GHz processor, 4 GB of memory and a 500 GB hard drive. It includes Fiery software features, such as the Command WorkStation, WebTools, hot folders and remote scan. Users can also personalize existing files (e.g., text, images, barcodes) using the Fiery FreeFrom Create feature, and they don’t need to purchase an additional variable data printing solution.
Finally, the EX C9065/C9070 Print Server is intended for complex processes and is built on a Windows 10 architecture. The server comes with a 3.2 GHz quad-core processor, 8 GB of memory and 1 TB hard drive. In addition to its many features, the EX C9065/C9070 server has variable data printing.
