Product Overview

The MX-B376W and MX-B476W joins Sharp’s Advanced Series of monochrome MFPs that offer standard printing, copying, scanning and faxing features. The MX-B376W prints and copies at up to 37 ppm and has a first-copy-time of 7.3 seconds, while the MX-B476W prints and copies at up to 47 ppm and includes a first-copy-time of 5.5 seconds.

Both devices include a 7″ color touchscreen, an 1.4 GHz processor, 5 GB of memory and a 500 GB hard drive. PCL and PostScript printing languages are supported. USB, Ethernet and wireless connectivity are standard. The devices also support mobile printing and scanning via the Sharpdesk Mobile app.

Users can also print from and scan to cloud services, such as Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint, Dropbox and Box.

Sharp also introduced a new MFP Voice feature that allows users to provide commands to Amazon Alexa by voice. Another new feature is the Application Portal that allows administrators to add and update applications via the touchscreen.

The devices are compact, so they can sit on top of desktops and tables. However, users have the option of purchasing a high stand for a floor-standing configuration.

More details on both devices is in our Features section below.

The MX-B376W and MX-B476W are compact devices that include strong features for offices that don’t need color output.

Features

Paper handling starts with a 500-sheet paper drawer and a 50-sheet bypass. Users can optionally add up to three 600-sheet paper trays for $220 each. The maximum input capacity is 2,350 sheets. Each paper tray accommodates up to 8.5″ x 14″ (legal-sized) paper.

The MX-B376W has a 50-sheet reversing automatic document feeder, while the MX-B476W has a 100-sheet duplexing single-pass document feeder. The 50-sheet feeder scans at up to 40 ipm, and the 100-sheet feeder scans both sides of a document in a single pass at up to 110 ipm.

There’s an optional inner finisher ($1,435) that includes 30-sheet multiposition stapling and holds up to 280 sheets.

Printing features include duplex printing, toner save mode, electronic sorting, N-up printing, image rotation, watermarks and job retention. The serverless print release feature lets users send a job to one device yet print it from another.

Some of the copying features are scan-once print many, electronic sorting, ID card copy and auto tray switching.

The MX-B376W and MX-B476W supports both black-and-white and color scanning. There’s also the optical character recognition (OCR) functionality that converts scanned documents into files, such as PDFs and Word.

Users can scan to email, to desktop, to folder, to FTP and to USB. File formats supported include TIFF, PDF and JPEG. Users can send scans up to 100 email addresses with a single touch.

The faxing function includes a 33.6kbps modem with JBIG compression. It has a built-in 1 GB of memory.

Security features include IP/Mac address filtering, user authentication with LDAP and Active Directory, port management, firmware attack prevention, application whitelisting and self-recover capability (a malicious virus is identified and restored firmware to original state). There’s also an end-of-lease feature that erases all personal data from the hard drive before the device is traded in.
