Cornerstone OnDemand sells a variety of learning management systems, including Cornerstone Collaborative Learning, Cornerstone Learning for Extended Enterprise and Cornerstone for Salesforce. For the purpose of this review, we will discuss Cornerstone Learning.

Cornerstone Learning provides a choice of instructor-led training, online training and mobile training from one platform. It can be used alone or integrated with Cornerstone OnDemand’s talent suite (for combining employee training and performance metrics), and it provides these benefits for companies:

  • Improve employee productivity by investing in employee skills and development
  • Improve employee engagement by providing specialized training program with content relevant to their roles or departments
  • Encourage employees to learn the material together with social collaboration tools

Cornerstone Learning has over 30,000 course titles to choose from. It also includes learning content management system (LCMS) developer licenses for companies that want to create their own training content.


We’ve indicated the standard features of Cornerstone Learning below. However, we want to point out these features.

  • Instructor-led training: Cornerstone Learning gives administrators the ability to provide instructor-led training. Administrators can set up and manage the training session, including managing training vendors. Training registration can be automated. The instructor-led training feature also integrates with virtual classrooms.
  • Social collaboration: A new trend in LMS, Cornerstone Learning’s social collaboration features are similar to a social networking site. Users will have their own profiles, view a newsfeed, and post updates and comments. There is also a learning community that provides announcements and updates on new courses.
  • Compliance Management: This feature helps administrators keep track of certifications and compliance by automation (e.g., sending alerts that certifications need to be renewed). Administrators can also create customized certifications, as well as run analytics and reports on course and student performance.
  • Mobile learning: Students can access any course, transcripts or materials from a mobile device – they can be accessed offline as well as online.

The implementation process for Cornerstone’s solutions goes in three steps: Discovery, Design and Execution.

The Discovery phase entails assessing the company’s needs through questionnaires, demos and interviews. During the Design phase, Cornerstone OnDemand presents a configuration workshop where it recommends a customer-specific design it’s built. Finally, the Execution phase is the actual deployment.

Training is provided by members of the Educational Services team – they train everyone from system administrators to managers and end users. They recommend a blended learning approach using webinars, self-paced online courses, virtual labs and live onsite training.

Customer Service & Support

Cornerstone OnDemand offers four support packages that customers can choose from: Professional Support Package, Professional Plus Support Package, Premier Support Package and Premier Plus Support Package.

Cornerstone OnDemand provides 24/7 customer support globally via its Global Product Support Team. The Global Product Support handles customer queries on troubleshooting, specific features or functions, and researching complex issues.

Customers also have access to the Knowledge base as well as the Cornerstone Success Center if they want to seek advice from other customers.

Since it’s integrated with Cornerstone’s talent management solution, Cornerstone Learning may not integrate with a third-party human resource management system (HRMS) or other solution. And product updates tend to be released only on a quarterly basis.

Also, some users have said it takes time to get used to the ins and outs of Cornerstone Learning.
