Product Overview

SilkRoad Talent Activation is a talent management solution that helps companies “activate” their employees in their careers with the company rather than just keeping them engaged. It allows companies to personalize their talent journey from recruiting to succession. One unique component is that SilkRoad doesn’t just accommodate a traditional workforce (full-time workers), but it also accommodates part-time employees, seasonal workers, freelancers and contractors.

SilkRoad Talent Activation is a flexible and scalable solution. Companies can purchase a specific module or an entire suite that integrates all functions. The modules are:

  • Recruiting
  • Onboarding
  • Performance
  • Learning

We discuss each solution in our Features section below.

Finally, there is the Talent Center that provides tools for employees to help them in their jobs. It includes SilkRoad features (such as learning management and performance evaluations) as well as Microsoft 365 and other third-party applications.

Features

SilkRoad Activation for Recruiting – This recruiting system allows recruiters to post jobs via free job boards and social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. One unique feature is the ability to post video job descriptions. Employers can record or upload videos on YouTube or Vimeo and embed them within the job description. Companies can also personalize their brand on candidate portals (such as posting pictures and videos about the organization).

SilkRoad Activation for Onboarding – This onboarding solution is automated and paperless. It allows new hires to complete the necessary paperwork online in order to save company time and money. Employers can create customized onboarding content, as well as update content at any time. We want to note that this solution is certified as a U.S. Department of Homeland Security employer agent, meaning employers can utilize all of the tools to ensure timely I-9 and other legal compliance.

SilkRoad Activation for Performance – With this solution, employers can track and provide continuous feedback in addition to yearly or quarterly performance reviews. Managers can track goals, check-ins, feedback and expectations within a single dashboard. Other features include peer contributions, aligning employees’ goals and objectives with performance, and building step-by-step review processes with built-in wizards.

SilkRoad Activation for Learning Management – SilkRoad allows employers to offer employees a dedicated learning portal for viewing learning plans, enrolling in courses or connecting with other employees. Employers can also create custom training based on department or job roles – and training can be done online, in a classroom setting, or both. To help reduce time and cost of training, the LMS also includes course scheduling, and reporting and catalog management. Finally, there is also a checklist feature so managers can track the progression of their direct reports’ learning paths (e.g., viewing statuses of each learning course).

SilkRoad also provides analytical tools in its recruiting and performance management solutions to help companies gain insight in their hiring and other employee engagement objectives.

Implementation/Integration

SilkRoad has a team of implementation specialists dedicated to assisting companies in deploying the software. They provide project scoping, consulting services and system configuration prior to implementation.

Companies that want SilkRoad implemented at a quicker pace will work with a SilkRoad Dedicated Administrator who can manage any system maintenance and release planning efforts, provide training to users or take on administrative tasks, such as creating reports.

SilkRoad offers training on its products via e-learning, onsite classes, custom webinars and custom training videos. Training is provided either before, during or after the system is launched.

Customer Service & Support

SilkRoad’s Customer Success team is the first point of contact for any issues with the solution. They also work with the client periodically to review usage of SilkRoad and discuss any improvements needed.

There is also the Engagement Center, a portal where users can access documentation, FAQ’s and other resources.  Users can also contact support via that portal.

SilkRoad offers a customer reward program called “SilkRoad Champions Program,” where customers can earn more than 3,000 points in a given year and earn a free pass to the SilkRoad Connections user conference. Companies can earn points by having their success story published on SilkRoad’s website, providing quotes in press releases and providing references to prospective customers.
