Product Overview
The bizhub 808 and 958 are recent entries to the Konica Minolta black-and-white MFP lineup. Both devices include standard printing, copying and scanning features with optional faxing.
The bizhub 808 prints and copies at up to 80ppm. Its first copy out time is 3.6 seconds and its monthly duty cycle is 300,000 pages per month. The bizhub 958 runs at up to 95ppm and includes a first-copy-time of 3.3 seconds. It also has a monthly duty cycle of 300,000 pages.
Both devices includes 4GB of memory and a 250GB hard drive. PCL, PostScript and XPS printing languages are supported. USB and Ethernet are standard, while Wi-Fi is optional. Mobile printing is supported via AirPrint, Google Cloud Print and NFC-enabled devices.
The models feature Konica Minolta’s INFO-Palette Design control panel, which consists of a 9″ color screen that has a touch-and-swipe functionality commonly found on mobile devices. You can customize commonly used workflows right on the screen. The interface includes a new area for mobile connectivity, as well as an optional voice guidance system for hearing screen instructions. And a web browser is included as a standard feature, providing support for a wide variety of apps.

With the INFO-Palette Design control panel, mobile printing capability and versatile paper-handling, the bizhub 808 and 958 provides strong features for production environments.
Features
Paper handling: Paper handling starts with dual 500-sheet paper trays, a 1,500-sheet tray, a 1,000-sheet tray and a 150-sheet bypass. There are additional paper options, such as a 2,500-sheet large-capacity tray and a 3,000-sheet large-capacity tray. The maximum paper capacity is 6,650 sheets.
Both devices include a standard dual-scan document feeder with a 300-sheet capacity that scans up to 240ipm (this document feeder scans both sides of a page in a single pass). Duplexing is standard.
There’s a standard 250-sheet output tray. There are also a few finishing options. First, there’s a finisher with 3,200-sheet maximum output and 50-sheet multiposition stapling. A 2/3-hole punch kit can be added to the finisher.
Then, there’s a booklet finisher that saddle stitches up to 20 booklets. There’s an additional 100-sheet stapling finisher with a 3,200-sheet maximum output as well as a booklet finisher with 2,500-sheet output, 100-sheet stapling and 20-sheet booklet making.
There’s also a Z-fold unit, as well as a job separator.
MFP functions: There’s a user box that allows users to store scanned documents on the hard drive. Users can create up to 1,000 user boxes to hold up to 3,000 documents total. The scanning function supports scan to email, USB, user box, FTP, SMB and WebDav. LDAP is also supported. Output file formats include JPEG, TIFF, PDF, compact PDF and XPS, to name a few.
The optional faxing uses a 33.6 kbps modem with JBIG compression. Color fax, IP fax and PC fax are standard.
Security features: The 808 and 958 have many security features, both standard and optional. Some of the features include hard disk encryption, job encryption, watermark, IP filtering, secure print, secure fax, optional copy guard and IPv6 authentication. Konica Minolta also offers optional ID card authentication and biotmetric authentication.

Shortcomings
The bizhub 808 and 958 are intended for larger companies or production-level environments. Smaller companies can check out Konica Minolta’s other MFPs, such as the bizhub 458/558.
Wireless connectivity is also only offered as an option.
