More details are in our Features section below.
The LaserJet Managed MFP E82540du Series is a scalable line of MFPs ideal for companies that require high-volume printing but not color output.
Features
Paper handling starts with two 520-sheet trays and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray. Optional paper input accessories include two 520-sheet trays, a 2,000-sheet high-capacity feeder and a 3,000-sheet high-capacity feeder. The maximum paper capacity is 6,140 sheets. Most of the trays support ledger-sized (11″ x 17″) paper.
The monthly duty cycle is 300,000 pages, but HP recommends a monthly average of 100,000 pages.
Standard output is a 500-sheet face-down bin. There’s also a 100-sheet automatic document feeder with single-pass scanning with a speed of up to 80 ppm (160 ipm in duplex). Optional finishers include an inner finisher, a stapler/stacker finisher, a booklet finisher, hole-punch units and job separator.
The scanning function supports file formats, such as PDF, JPEG, TIFF and XPS. Users can send to email, to network folder, to USB, to FTP and to SharePoint.
The faxing function includes a 33.6 kbps modem and up to 500 pages of memory. Some features are PC faxing, Internet faxing, automatic fax reduction, automatic redialing and fax forwarding.
Similar to other HP devices, the E82540du Series has the HP Sure Start security feature that helps prevent any viruses, malware or other attacks. With the Sure Start feature, a printer can self-detect an attempted attack and if such an attack occurs, will reboot itself and send a notification to the IT administrator.
HP offer high-yield, 69,000-page replacement black toner cartridge. We weren’t able to find the price for the cartridge in order to calculate the cost per page. Users can take advantage of the high-yield cartridge and other environmentally-friendly features to help keep printing costs down.
Finally, there’s a 90-day parts warranty with an option of extended warranty via HP’s service plans.

Shortcomings
Wireless connectivity is only available as an option and not standard. Also, these devices may be too robust for offices with low-volume printing needs.
