Bottom Line: Cloud-based LMS software that empowers employees to boost their skills or career development.

Product Overview

Skillsoft Percipio is a learning experience platform (LXP) that provides relevant and engaging courses to help employees boost their skills and development. It has curated learning paths that empowers employees to build upon their new skills, and it uses machine learning to provide personalized content recommendations based on the employee’s interests and activities. Percipio also has an unique benefit of “meeting the employee while they work” – meaning that employees can access a microlearning course on the task they’re currently working on directly from their browser via a plugin.

There are numerous benefits to the software, such as:

  • Flexible content options (e.g., custom content, content from other providers)
  • Blended learning
  • The ability to promote employees learning achievement with digital badges
  • Employees can access videos even while offline
  • Integration with third-party HRMS and learning management systems (LMS)

Features

Here are some of the key features of Skillsoft Percipio:

Aspire Journeys – Aspire Journeys are curated role-based or skills-based learning paths that map the progression of the employee’s career development. The paths are based on over 100,000 competencies and skills that Skillsoft curates into 700 channels, and each path includes different learning content (e.g., videos, audiobooks), practical on-the-job exercises and digital badges to celebrate accomplishments. Percipio currently has two main programs: Technology and Developer and Leadership and Development. The Technology and Developer program supports 17 Aspire Journeys and 68 role-based tracks, while the Leadership and Development program has 10 Aspire Journeys.

Content – Administrators can create tailored learning paths that include custom content, off-the-shelf courses and more. They can create their own content using SCORM, AICC or other file formats, and Percipio can store files up to 200 GB for free. Administrators can also source courses from Skillsoft or another content provider (e.g., YouTube, Coursera, SharePoint).

Blended learning – In addition to online learning, administrators can track their instructor-led training (both virtual and in-person) programs. Percipio has a centralized portal that allows learners to register for virtual or in-person classes with a single click, and it sends notifications for registrations, waitlists, class changes and course reminders. Administrators can track the program’s effectiveness with dashboards and reporting features.

Digital badges – Employees can earn digital badges when they complete a course, track or an Aspire Journey, and they can share those badges on their social media accounts or their resumes. The badges are secured and validated through a blockchain and comply with the IMS Global Learning Consortium Open Badge standards, which ensure each badge is portable and personal to the learner.

Mobile app – Percipio is available as a native Android and iOS app, so learners can access content, set weekly goals and receive notifications while on the go.

Skill Benchmarks – The Skill Benchmarks solution helps organizations measure their employees’ skills using assessments. Employees simply fill out an assessment that asks questions regarding their skills in their current job, and based on the assessment’s results, they’ll get a personalized recommendation on courses or content that helps them develop or improve their skills. Companies can opt to have employees retake the assessment every 30 days or at a frequency of their choosing.
