Epignosis’ suite of products includes TalentLMS, an award-winning cloud LMS; TalentCards, a micro-learning solution for delivering bite-sized training; and eFront, an advanced enterprise-grade LMS that will be the focus of this review.

eFront is a highly customizable learning management system (LMS) for enterprises that offers unrivaled ease and flexibility to fit all brand specifications and train masses of employees, partners and customers.

Flexible deployment: It can be deployed either on-premise within an organization’s intranet or on a fully managed private cloud.

Advanced customization options: eFront includes a branded URL, a user-friendly website builder, custom themes and a plugin builder for further customization.

TalentLMS is a cloud-based learning management system intended for use by businesses and organizations of all types and sizes. It is highly customizable and scalable, and shares many advanced features with eFront, like extensive support for gamification, eCommerce, blended learning and video conferencing.

TalentCards is an advanced mobile-learning solution that delivers microlearning content via smart learning cards. These cards can be enriched with bite-sized information in the form of text, image, video, audio or hyperlinks, and combined into sets to produce topic-specific training for different audiences. TalentCards also offers rich gamification features and post-course evaluation and reporting options.

Features

eFront allows instructors to build rich courses by importing content from different sources and in various formats (e.g., SCORM, TinCan, HTML5, H5P, docs, videos, YouTube, etc.). eFront also offers a powerful assessment engine that supports multiple types of questions, quizzes, assignments, surveys, and tests with extensive reporting options on all results.

In addition, eFront supports the following eLearning features:

  • Multi-tenancy where clients can divide their training portal to as many sub-portals as they need according to their organizational structure. Customize and use each separately.
  • Learning paths so that courses are assigned based on user attributes and taken in a specific order
  • Course rules to define course order, completion conditions, and course prerequisites
  • Social learning, such as discussions and messages
  • Blended learning that combine online courses with ILT sessions whether classroom-based or via video conferencing
  • Gamification engine that supports points, badges, levels and leaderboards
  • Notifications via automatic emails triggered by certain events
  • Skills and skill gap testing that easily detect employees’ weaknesses with skill-gap tests and analysis
  • Jobs where managers can assign job-specific training to different audiences
  • Audiences feature that segment users in groups based on user attributes
  • Custom fields that add custom attributes to each user
  • Custom user types that set and restrict permissions to different roles
  • SSO feature that integrate with client’s user authentication service and enhance its platform’s security

Shortcomings

Epignosis no longer supports an open source version of eFront.
