Product Overview

Cornerstone is an end-to-end talent experience platform that helps companies build a future-ready workforce. It combines people growth experience (e.g., learning experience, opportunity marketplace), AI and traditional talent management features in one platform. This review focuses on Cornerstone LMS, its learning and development software.

Cornerstone LMS is a unified learning and development platform that allows companies to automate, create, deploy and track their learning initiatives. Each learner can access their personalized account where they can access and share relevant and modern training content. Companies that need to manage their compliance training can benefit from automated workflows and get insights into the training’s performance.

Cornerstone LMS has many benefits, such as:

  • Flexibility in accommodating virtual and in-person training
  • Accessible for learners from any device
  • The ability to help employees learn new skills and grow their current ones
  • Improved employee collaboration

Cornerstone LMS users that want to curate content based on their organizational needs can optionally purchase Cornerstone’s Content Studio solution. Content Studio uses AI and machine learning to find and show content that’s relevant to the employee’s skills. Managers can build a library of curated content collections, have their team review those collections and provide feedback and then publish the collection into the Cornerstone LMS platform.

Cornerstone has a Content Anytime subscription of curated microlearning content to help employees gain new skills, comply with certification requirements or navigate the world of remote work. It uses machine learning to send personalized recommendations to employees based on their career development or job role. Content Anytime covers a variety of topics, such as leadership skills, professional development, technology and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB).

Finally, for companies that want to sell their training programs to their customers or vendors, Cornerstone offers an Extended Enterprise Learning platform with features, such as multiple learning portals, personalized learning paths and eCommerce.

Features

Here are some key features of Cornerstone LMS:

  • Personalized learning paths: Administrators can create a learning path that’s targeted to an employee’s job role or own career development. The learning path can include prerequisites and curated content playlists, and administrators can optionally curate external content, too. In addition, there’s an AI-powered Learner Home feature that provides updated and relevant content to the learner based on their job or learning history.
  • Course format: The software supports a variety of formats, such as video, audio, digital documents, instructor-led training and virtual reality. With the instructor-led training format, users can set up and manage the sessions, automatically register learners and integrate Cornerstone with Zoom, Teams or another virtual conferencing solution.
  • Social collaboration: Cornerstone LMS’s social collaboration features allows learners to share content, add comments and post updates.
  • Compliance Management: This feature helps administrators keep track of certifications and compliance by automation (e.g., sending alerts that certifications need to be renewed). Administrators can also create customized certifications, as well as run analytics and reports on course and student performance.
  • Mobile learning: Students can access any course, transcripts or materials from a mobile device – they can be accessed offline as well as online.
  • Analytics: Users can track various metrics (e.g., course completion, learner performance) through built-in dashboards, and they can also build custom reports.

Implementation/Integration

The implementation process for Cornerstone’s solutions goes in three steps: Discovery, Design and Execution.

The Discovery phase entails assessing the company’s needs through questionnaires, demos and interviews. During the Design phase, Cornerstone presents a configuration workshop where it recommends a customer-specific design it’s built. Finally, the Execution phase is the actual deployment.

Training is provided by members of the Educational Services team – they train everyone from system administrators to managers and end users. They recommend a blended learning approach using webinars, self-paced online courses, virtual labs and live onsite training.
