Configio At A Glance

Product Overview

Configio is a feature-rich multi-modular solution that touches on many software categories. For the purposes of this review, we’ve focused on the strengths relevant to the Learning Management System (LMS) portion of this product.

As an all-in-one solution, Configio includes eCommerce, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Time Sheet Tracking, and Email Campaign Management with the ability to consolidate all kinds of data for organizing and registering users. For example, users can register for an in-person training event, create notes such as food preferences and allergies if the event includes dinner, or optionally purchase additional materials related to the training event.

The architecture of Configio is highly configurable so that as a learning management solution, organizers are able to manage and deliver a vast library of content to a highly flexible amount of individual learners. The system is also able to consolidate business contacts, sales leads, customer purchases, shipping management, staff management, and much more with a close focus on learner planning and executing any event.

When delivering content in eCommerce mode, administrators are able to create a simple or  sophisticated registration for an accounts to complete and then accept e-payments. Rather than integrating with a third party solution like Shoppify, Configio is PCI Level 1 Compliant for allowing secure online payments within the system. This includes the ability to issue gift cards and coupons.

When it comes to registering event attendees and course learners, Configio makes it simple to reserve a spot and purchase at check-out. Fields can be configured so that “add to cart” could instead be labeled “sign-up” or “Attachment” can instead be “handout.”

Configio doesn’t offer a free trial, but does offer a free demonstration of the solution.


Learning Management features can be bought separately from the full Configio package. We’ve chosen the following top three features from Configio’s LMS:

1. Course Material: A content player allows course material to include interactive videos, surveys, tasks lists and more. Test and quizzes are accessible for instructors to assign. Instructors are also able to create original lessons within the system. Automatic reminders keep track of course items for both instructors and learners.

2. Certifications: Design custom certifications to print upon course completion and set expiration dates for learners to re-certify. Mandate prerequisites so that learners must complete a learning path before moving on to the next course.

3. Instructor Portal: Instructors have their own access portal for organizing the syllabus, constructing exams, sending handouts & attachments, and keeping track of other details such as course work, due dates and essays.

Configio is able to have the solution running almost immediately with an implementation service called “Fast Track.” This service offers a gateway, payment set up, custom website themes, a training platform for the client’s users, and priority customer support.

Another service is for Configio’s website design team to update the client’s existing website or create a new one through WordPress. This service also offers training for clients to manage their own content, or additional services to help support the site after it’s been built.

Customer Service & Support

Configio has a customer support team that can be reached either through a ticketing system, instant chat, screen share, or video chat with real-time walkthroughs.  The support team is consistent with helping users new to managing enterprise systems as well.

The full Configio package has a tremendous number of features and may lead to a steep learning curve when implementing the entire platform all at once. Advanced users are easily able to tackle the system for all of their learning management, event management and eCommerce needs, but if the user has no technology experience they will require more personalize support fully utilize the feature sets to prevent feeling overwhelmed.
