Product Overview

OpenText Analytics (also known as OpenText Magellan) is an AI and analytics suite that helps organizations to identify patterns and trends in their data with interactive dashboards and visualizations. Its self-service functionality empowers users to explore their data without relying on IT resources. OpenText Magellan can be deployed on-premise, in the cloud or a hybrid of both.

OpenText Magellan – This platform combines open source machine learning with advanced analytics and the ability to pull, merge and analyze big data and big content (both structured and unstructured) that’s stored in the organization’s Enterprise Information Management systems. Administrators can set up versions of predictive models, which is shared with the Data Discovery and BI & Reporting modules.

OpenText Magellan Data Discovery – Users can perform data discovery features in a few clicks by using the drag-and-drop interface. Magellan connects huge data sets from multiple sources and displays them in a single view. Users can select from published versions of machine learning models, set up data visualizations and get notifications if the data or analysis change. Magellan also has smart data discovery features that recommend data visualizations based on the data the user selects.

OpenText Magellan BI & Reporting – Users can create ad-hoc reports and dashboards using interactive features, such as drill-downs, sorting, filtering and aggregating. OpenText Magellan supports a variety of APIs (e.g., REST, JavaScript), so administrators can embed the software within the organization’s existing system (e.g., ERP). Users can also access the data offline via a PDF or Microsoft Office program, such as Excel or Word. The module also has scalability features, as it supports over 100,000 users who can access the reports and dashboards.

Implementation/Integration

New clients work with OpenText’s Implementation Services team on software deployment. The specific methodology is based on a client’s unique needs and the type of deployment (e.g., on-premise, cloud, hybrid). But some typical components, include installation and configuration, migration, integration and customization and project management.

OpenText offers a learning program called Voyager Academy for all new and current users to help them get the most out of the software. It offers self-paced online learning courses as well as virtual classes, and users can register for the virtual class via the OpenText catalog.

Customer Service & Support

Users can access the self-service portal to browse articles, submit a ticket or participate in community forums. They can also contact customer support via phone or email.

OpenText offers an optional support program called Prime Protect that’s designed for businesses with complex needs. In addition to the portal, email and phone support and the latest product releases and upgrades, Prime Protect includes 24/7 coverage for Severity 1 and 2 (critical) issues and 5/8 coverage for Severity 3 issues.
