Product Overview

The new DocuMate 6460 and 6480 scanners joins Xerox’s line of departmental and workgroup devices. The DocuMate 6460 ($1,095) scans at up to 70ppm in simplex and 140ipm in duplex (in both black and color). The DocuMate 6480 ($1,595) scans at up to 88ppm in simplex and 176ipm in duplex.

Both scanners has an optical resolution of 600dpi, an interpolated resolution of 1,200dpi and a 10,000-page daily duty cycle.

Like other Xerox scanners, the DocuMate 6460 and 6480 utilize Visioneer’s OneTouch scanning technology that helps the user work with common scanning workflows, such as scanning documents to email. Visioneer is a document imaging/scanner solutions company that has partnered with Xerox on its DocuMate scanner line since 2003.

In addition to email, documents can be sent to a searchable PDF or Microsoft SharePoint.

The scanners also include Visioneer’s active reversing rollers and ball-bearing mechanism for faster scanning and reduced paper misfeeds.

Additional details on these devices can be found in our Features section below.

Like the DocuMate 6440, the DocuMate 6460 and 6480 target all company sizes in many industries, such as manufacturing, healthcare, government and finance. Their versatility and compact size make them a good buy for offices with a lot of scanning volume.

The DocuMate 6460 and 6480 scanners uniquely include a duplexing document feeder that has a maximum capacity of 120 sheets. The feeder accepts up to 9.5″ x 236″ paper size with the minimum of 2″ x 2″ on the paper (e.g., ID or insurance cards).

The scanners provide image enhancement features via Visioneer’s Acuity software. Such features include dynamic thresholding, correction of imperfect documents, removing shadows from images and straightening pages.

Custom color (up to 3) and multi-color dropout is supported. Roller-based page separation allows multiple pages to scan through and detects misfeeds. Ultrasonic double-feed detection is also supported.

USB connectivity is standard.

In addition to OneTouch and Acuity, other bundled software includes Nuance’s OmniPage Ultimate, Nuance PaperPort, and Nuance Power PDF.
