Product Overview

The MP C307 and MP C407 are newer generation color MFPs that replace the older MP C406. Both devices include standard printing, copying, scanning, and faxing features. They also include the Ricoh 10.1″ Smart Operation Panel, which lets users drag and drop or pinch, flick, and swipe icons, much like a tablet. Users can access the Web via the panel, and perform quick copy, fax and scan functions. They can also create one-touch folders for easier workflow, as well as add widgets for notifications and other settings.

The MP C307 prints and copies at 31ppm in both black and color. It has a first-print-out time of less than 11 seconds in color. The MP C407 prints and copies in 42ppm in black and 36ppm in color. It has a first-print-out time of less than 10.5 seconds in color.

Both devices include a 1.46 GHz processor and 2 GB of memory. The hard disk drive is 320 GB.  Both devices prints and copies only up to 8.5″ x 14″.

More details are in our Features section below.

The MP C307 and MP C407 are good buys for small to medium-sized offices or departments with color needs, but doesn’t require 11″ x 17″ capability. Their compact design can fit on desktops or in cramped spaces, but they can also be floor-standing configurations with the additional paper trays.

Features

The MP C307 and MP C407 includes standard PCL and PostScript printing language. They’re also capable of printing direct PDF files. USB and Ethernet are standard. Wi-Fi and parallel are optional. Mobile printing and scanning are supported via the Ricoh Smart Device Connector app.

Paper input starts with a 250-sheet tray and a 100-sheet bypass. There is an option of adding one or two trays of 500 sheets each for a total capacity of 1,350 sheets.

There’s a 50-sheet automatic document feeder that supports single-pass duplexing. Output is a standard 100-sheet tray with an optional 200-sheet one-bin tray. With the exception of the bypass tray, each tray supports up to 43 lb. bond paper weight. (The bypass supports up to 58 lb. bond.)

There is a Document Server that can store up to 3,000 documents on the hard drive.

The scanning function includes a speed of 80 ipm simplex in black and color. It supports scan-to-email, scan-to-folder, network scanning and scan-to-media. File formats supported are PDF, TIFF, high-compression PDF and JPEG. Other scanning features include universal send, LDAP support, digital signatures on PDFs and PDF encryption.

We also want to point out that there is a PageKeeper configuration, which is a multi-detection sensor that automatically stops a scanning job when more than one sheet is fed into the document feeder. This feature reduces scanning delays and enables a smoother workflow.

The faxing feature supports a 33.6 kbps modem with JBIG compression. Standard fax memory is 4 MB, which is approximately 320 pages. Internet and LAN fax are standard, while remote fax is optional.

There are many security features, including user authentication, IP address filtering, hard drive overwrite and encryption, secure printing and copy guard security, to name a few. For extra security, users can purchase an optional NFC card reader for swiping an NFC-enabled ID card at the device.

Finally, we want to point out a few more features. First, there’s the Device Software Manager app that allows the user to download and install the latest print drivers without help from the IT department. Second, the device can print in silent mode to eliminate printer noise. And finally, there’s the Poster Copy feature that can transform a document into a poster simply by combining nine sheets.
