Product Overview

The new Ricoh MP 2554 series replace the older MP 2553 machines that were released in 2014. The main difference in the new generation of devices is that they utilize Ricoh’s new Smart Device Connector app. This app allows users to print or scan documents from their mobile devices via the QR code or NFC tag on the optional Smart Operation Panel. Another upgrade is the increased in maximum paper capacity and the addition of the optional internal stapleless finisher.

The MP 2554 ($6,400) copies and prints at 25ppm, the MP 3054 ($8,350) has a speed of 30ppm, and the MP 3354 ($9,880) runs at 33ppm. System memory is 2GB with a 320GB hard drive. Ricoh has enhanced its 10.1″ color touchscreen – much like working with tablets and smartphones, users can swipe, drag-and-drop, and pinch-and-flick between functions.

The print function is based on a 533MHz embedded controller. It supports PCL and XPS. There is also a PostScript option as well as one that allows for direct printing of PDF files. USB and Ethernet are standard. Ricoh also offers a variety of optional interfaces including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet, and even parallel.

The Ricoh MP 2554, MP 3054, and MP 3354 have very strong features. We like the excellent range of paper-handling features, enhanced mobile printing and scanning capability, and optional finishers with ledger-sized paper capability. These are good buys for offices that need a multifunctional machine but not the color printing or copying.
