Product Overview
OKI has recently released four new color devices aimed at the small-to-medium business market. The four devices are newer generations of its older counterparts, adding new features such as higher print speed and mobile printing capability.
One of those devices is the MC363dn ($549), which replaces the older MC362w. This MFP runs at up to 31ppm in black and 27ppm in color. It includes a 667MHz processor and 1GB of memory. Printing, copying, scanning and faxing functions are standard.
First-page-out time for printing is 8.5 seconds in black and 9 seconds in color. The monthly duty cycle is 45,000 pages a month, but OKI recommends an average of up to 5,000 pages.
More details on this printer is in our Features section below.
The MC363dn is intended more for smaller businesses (roughly one to 10 users) looking for a compact device to handle multifunctional needs.
Features
The MC363dn includes PCL and PostScript printing language. It also includes standard USB and Ethernet connectivity as well as optional wireless. Mobile printing is also supported via apps such as Google Cloud Print 2.0 and Apple AirPrint.
Paper handling starts with a 250-sheet main tray and a 100-sheet bypass. OKI offers an additional 530-sheet tray as an option for a maximum capacity of 880 sheets. The two 530-sheet trays accept up to 8.5″ x 14″ paper, while the bypass accommodates banner sizes of up to 52″.
Output consists of a 150-sheet bin. There is also a 50-sheet reversing automatic document feeder. There are no finishing options.
Documents can be scanned to a variety of destinations, including PC, USB, email, shared folder and remote scan. File formats supported include PDF, JPEG, XPS and TIFF. LDAP is also supported.
The faxing function uses a 33.6kbps modem with 256MB of memory. PC faxing and Internet faxing are standard.
The MC363dn contain a Utility Suite that includes features, such as color correct, color swatch utility, print job accounting, web driver installer and PDF direct print, to name a few.
As with other OKI devices, the MC363dn includes energy-saving features such as duplexing, LED printing technology and Toner Save mode.
Aftermarket consumables consist of a 3,500-page black toner cartridge, 3,000-page each color toner cartridges (cyan, magenta and yellow) and 20,000-page single image drum. According to our calculations, the cost per page is 3.3 cents in black and 16.9 cents in color. The color per-page cost is a little high for a small business, but they can combat that by utilizing OKI’s energy-saving features.
The MC363dn has a one-year on-site warranty and a five-year limited warranty on the LED printheads.
