Product Overview
The Konica Minolta bizhub 4700P Series are monochrome single-function printers aimed at small-to-medium-sized businesses. They provide the same compact and rugged footprint as in earlier Konica Minolta printers. These printers also provide a feature for the healthcare industry: the TypeHaus FormJet Prescription Secure functionality that allows doctors to print patient scripts securely.
There are three printers in this family. First is the bizhub 3300P ($340) that prints at up to 35ppm and has a duty cycle of 50,000 pages per month. Next is the bizhub 4000P ($970) with a speed of 42ppm and monthly duty cycle of 80,000 pages. And finally, there is the bizhub 4700P ($1,450) that runs at 50ppm and is rated at a duty cycle of 100,000 pages per month. The bizhub 3300P has a three-button LED panel display, while the other two printers have 2.4″ color LCD display. All three printers have a first-page-out time of 6.5 seconds and print at a resolution of up to 1,200dpi.
More details are found in our Features section below.
All three printers are compact, rugged, and scalable – and have strong features. Prices are also very reasonable for a business of any size. These are good buys for an office that doesn’t need multifunctionality or color. We especially like the TypeHaus FormJet Prescription Secure feature that is aimed at medical practices.
Features
There is an 800MHz processor. Standard memory on the 3300P is 128MB, not expandable. On the 4000P and 4700P, standard memory is 256MB and you can expand that to a maximum of 1,280MB. PCL, PostScript, and XPS printing are supported. USB and Ethernet are standard. On the 3300P, parallel connectivity is standard.
There is a variety of paper handling features on the printers. The 3300P starts with a 250-sheet tray and a 50-sheet bypass. You can add either an additional 250-sheet tray ($166) or a 550-sheet tray ($256) for a maximum input of 850 sheets. On the 4000P, standard input starts with a 250-sheet tray and a 100-sheet bypass. Options include up to three 250-sheet trays ($166) or a 550-sheet tray ($256) for a total of 2,000 sheets. Finally, the 4700P starts with a 550-sheet tray and a 100-sheet bypass. You can add up to three 250-sheet trays ($166) or a 550-sheet tray ($256) for a total of 2,300 sheets.
Duplexing is standard on all models. All trays accept paper of up to 8.5″ x 14″. Output is a 150-sheet bin on the 3300P and 4000P and a 250-sheet bin on the 4700P. There are no finishing options.
In addition to the Prescription Secure solution for health care, security features include secure print and user and administrator password configuration.
