ExxTend Learning At A Glance
Product Overview
ExxTend Learning is a cloud-based learning management system (LMS) designed for industries that need to comply with rapidly changing safety, security and other protocols. Administrators can track and report on employee training, and quickly create and deploy learning content. ExxTend Learning includes a library of over 700 courses, as well as a built-in course authoring tool.
The solution has the following benefits for clients:
- Increased employee engagement and performance, as they can access content that’s relevant to their jobs anytime
- Access to real-time training records for managers to help them better track employee learning and safety compliance status
- Features that streamline the course scheduling process, such as automatic scheduling
- Ability to track both online and classroom training (blended learning)
Features
Below, we’ve listed some key features of ExxTend Learning:
Curriculum Manager – With this feature, administrators have the ability to organize and assign their curriculum by individual users or units, such as Tracks, Jobs or Roles. They can customize the due dates of assignments or training, and the software automatically tracks those dates based on prior history. Administrators can also set different success levels for different groups that take the same course.
Classroom Manager – Classroom Manager allows admins to track their blended-learning initiatives. Learners can access the necessary documents online that supplement their classroom training. There’s a class-size restrictions feature that automatically waitlists students when the class size reaches its limit; those students can be auto-enrolled if specific users drop out of the class. The software sends out email alerts to students to remind them of upcoming classes or to let them know about any changes with the class. ExxTend Learning also generates class rosters for students.
Content creation – Admins have the ability to create their own content with the built-in authoring tool or third-party content providers (e.g., Adobe Captivate, Articulate Studio). The software supports SCORM- and AICC-compliant content, HTML, images, PDFs, documents and other multimedia materials. OverNite Software provides custom multimedia services for clients that need custom content, but don’t have the resources in-house.
Content delivery – ExxTend Learning provides trainers with four different ways to deploy content to their learners: Test Mode, Learn Mode, Study Mode and Adaptive mode. Content can also be presented in a slideshow.
Test Manager – The Test Manager feature allows trainers to evaluate the learner’s knowledge of the content. Trainers can use various testing methods, including a final test and a pretest.
Automatic scheduling – Once a learner is assigned a course within ExxTend Learning, the software sends them an initial due date to complete the training, which can be set by the admin. Once the course is completed, the learner gets an alert of the next retake date. This feature is beneficial for learners who need to be recertified each year so managers won’t have to worry about sending a manual reminder.
Records and reporting – This feature helps admins and trainers keep track of learners’ training. Each employee account includes a record of all courses the employee took, with the date of the course credit, test scores, an overall pass/fail grade for the course and the length of time it took to complete the training. Trainers can also run analytics on specific courses to measure their effectiveness. Reports can be exported to email, web browser, Excel or PDF.

As part of the initial setup, OverNite Software creates the client’s branded site, adds in the client’s logo and uploads the content libraries. Then, it’ll set up one admin in the company with login credentials. The admin can then set up the rest of the users who will access the software. Clients can contact a customer service representative to walk them through this setup process.
End-user onboarding is typically handled by the client’s administrator. OverNite does provide an email template for admins to send to their users to introduce them to the software.
The typical implementation process takes one business day. Importing users or learning history typically takes two to three business days after receiving data from the client. This is a complimentary service during the initial setup of the system.
OverNite Software offers administrative services that are customized to an organization’s needs as well as full- or part-time services to help the LMS implementation go smoothly. Those services are carried out from OverNite’s headquarters.
OverNite Software provides optional, one-time imports of client data upon initial setup. It’ll send the client spreadsheet templates for a user import and a history import. Once clients return the spreadsheets, the data will be imported. In addition, OverNite can set up a data feed from external software applications that can automatically add/update users.
Customer Service & Support
OverNite Software have live U.S. based customer service and support. Admins can contact customer support either by phone or filling out an online support form.
In terms of resources for users and admins, the vendor offers a free, initial two-hour Introduction to ExxTend Learning webinar. Admins may also choose to come to the vendor’s headquarters for a more comprehensive two-day admin training class.
Additional advanced, instructor-led training courses include instructional design, graphic design, SQL and a course-authoring webinar.
