Linxup is a GPS tracking solution that allows users to track their fleet’s route, maintenance and driving behavior in one place. It has an easy-to-install tracker, and users can monitor their fleet in real time via the web or Linxup’s mobile app.

The ELD solution has extensive features to keep companies in compliance with regulatory mandates. It automatically records driver hours, monitors their behavior and tracks the vehicle’s maintenance. The ELD eliminates manual driver logs, and users can generate reports that show proof of compliance. There’s a one-time cost for the hardware, plus $39.99 per month if users want the combined ELD and GPS tracking data plan.

Real-time GPS tracking – Fleet managers can get an at-a-glance view on their fleet’s performance, such as speed, direction and current location. The vehicle tracker provides minute-by-minute location updates while in transit and a once-an-hour update when the vehicle is turned off. The Google Maps-interactive route replay shows the entire traveling history, including indicators, alerts and other events, and managers can drill down into street-level data for additional insights. Managers can also create landmarks or geofences that send alerts when the vehicle enters or leaves a designated area.
Diagnostics Trouble Code (DTC) monitoring – With this feature, users will get an alert when a check engine light appears, and they can click on the Details icon to see the exact code. They can choose to receive the check engine light alert by text, email or in-app notification.
Driver performance – Fleet managers can see their driver’s performance using the daily driver safety report card that tracks metrics such as speeding, idling or harsh braking. The report card provides a driver performance score as well as a summary of safe driving behavior. Managers can use this data to coach their drivers on improving safety and reducing unnecessary fuel use.
Vehicle maintenance – This feature lets users track the vehicle’s maintenance schedule, including oil changes, tire rotations, license renewals and warranty expiration. A maintenance schedule is imported into the software, which sends reminders of when service is due.
Alerts and reporting – Users can customize their alert settings for different vehicles and groups. For example, they can receive time-sensitive alerts right away, important but less time-sensitive updates hourly or less urgent alerts in a daily summary. They can also get real-time alerts for specific activities, such as unauthorized vehicle usage or device tampering. In addition, Linxup offers reporting templates and interactive dashboards.
IFTA reporting – This is an add-on feature that automates the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) reports that are sent to the state’s department of transportation. The software can generate fuel and mileage tax summaries, calculate the fuel tax per vehicle and let users see fuel usage and tax rates.
Linxup Plus– Linxup Plus is an optional suite that provides dispatch and time-tracking features. Dispatchers can assign jobs to the drivers and message them from the mobile app. They can also track the job’s status, including time worked, and receive a confirmation that the job has been completed.

Shortcomings
Some users have experienced occasional glitches with the GPS (e.g., showing a location where the vehicle never was). And while the tracker doesn’t generally drain a vehicle’s battery, that could be an issue for hybrid vehicles if they’re parked for a long period of time.
