MicroStrategy At A Glance
Product Overview
MicroStrategy ONE is an end-to-end analytics platform suite that empowers global organizations to quickly deploy and scale intelligent analytics to their employees, customers and partners. It provides AI-powered workflows that support unlimited data sources and can be deployed in multiple cloud environments (e.g., Amazon, Azure, Google Cloud). MicroStrategy ONE includes robust modules and features that support all analytics use cases, such as:
- Self-service analytics
- Business reporting
- Advanced applications
- Embedded analytics
- AI infusion
We particularly want to note the recently-launched module, MicroStrategy AI, that includes a customizable AI chatbot called Auto that helps end users get answers to complex questions within their data, write SQL queries and create interactive dashboards. Some of its features include:
- Auto Answers, an interface similar to ChatGPT, where users can type in questions and get answers in the form of text or visualization
- Auto Dashboard that helps users design dashboards and reports in specific styles and formats
- Auto SQL that automatically creates data tables and joins, translates text into SQL and other SQL-related tasks for data scientists, and
- Auto Experts that give users access to relevant MicroStrategy resources to address support questions.
Features
MicroStrategy has self-service functionality that allows users to create dashboards, filter the data and share the reports. There’s an Intelligent Library, where users can interact with dossiers within the library and get real-time notifications. Users can also explore the data further within the visualizations, including drilling down into the specific points. The software has a collaboration feature that lets users create a discussion thread within the specific visualization.
MicroStrategy has federated analytics functionality, an open source framework that allows users to use it alongside their existing BI tool, such as Tableau or Power BI. It can also be embedded within an organization’s preferred application.
Additional features include ad hoc reporting, automated scheduling, predictive analytics and data mapping.

MicroStrategy users have noted that there is a particularly steep learning curve to the technology, and the set-up and initial configuration can be time consuming. IT resources will need to be devoted to help build up expertise within the user base. Also, some users have mentioned that the performance can be slow at times, due to the large datasets.
