Product Overview
Samsung has debuted a new product line of monochrome and color MFPs called SMART MultiXpress 7. The X7000 series prints and copies from 40ppm to 60ppm in both black and color. In addition to printing and copying, scanning and faxing are standard. The X7600 Series includes a 10.1″ touchscreen with a touch-and-slide user interface. The touchscreen pivots at a 90-degree angle. The User Interface Center, powered by Android, includes convenient applications and widgets, such as Copy, Address Book, Help, and Job Status, among others. Users also have the ability to print Web content straight from the device, as well as build custom apps.
There are four devices in this family:
- The X7600LX prints at 60ppm and scans at 80ppm (duplex scanning speed is 160ipm). It has a first-copy-out time of 4.5 seconds in color and a monthly duty cycle of 300,000 pages.
- The X7400GX prints at 40ppm and scans at 120ppm (duplex scanning speed is 240ipm). Its first-copy-out time in color is 6.1 seconds. The monthly duty cycle is 200,000 pages.
- The X7500GX prints and copies at 50ppm and has a first-copy-time of 5.1 seconds in color. The monthly duty cycle is 250,000 pages.
- The X7600GX also prints at 60ppm, however, unlike the K7600LX, it scans at 120ppm.
There is a 1.5GHz processor and 6GB of memory (2GB of those memory is for the Android OS). There is a standard 320GB hard drive. PCL and PostScript are supported. Standard connectivity are USB and Ethernet; Wi-Fi is optional as is NFC (near field communication). The device is Windows, Mac, and Linux compatible.
Mobile printing is supported via the Samsung Mobile Print app, Google Cloud Print, and Apple AirPrint. The Samsung Mobile Print app allows users to print, scan, and fax directly to and from any Samsung device via wireless. They can print important emails, PDFs, and Microsoft Office documents without the need for an external server or a PC. Another mobile printing platform is the PrinterOn, a patent-protected enterprise-grade mobile printing platform designed for any company that wants simple, secure mobile and cloud printing.
The K7600 Series is a good buy for medium-sized businesses that have high-volume printing and multifunctional needs. We’re especially impressed with the 10.1″ touchscreen with the Samsung user interface.
Features
Paper handling starts with two 550-sheet trays and a 100-sheet bypass. Users have a choice of options: a dual 520-sheet cassette feeder, a 2,000-sheet high-capacity feeder, or a 3,000-sheet high-capacity feeder. The maximum paper capacity is 6,140 sheets. The trays accept up to legal size (8.5″ x 14″) paper.
Output is a 500-sheet face-down tray. Automatic duplexing is standard. There is a standard 100-sheet duplexing document feeder on all the devices except for the X7600GX (which has 250 sheets in capacity). There are a few finishing options: an inner finisher, a booklet finisher, a high-volume finisher, and a hole-punch kit.
With the scanning function, users can scan to email, SMB, PC, FTP, and to a document storage box. Supported file formats are PDF, compact PDF, searchable PDF, TIFF (single-and multi-page), XPS, and JPEG.
The faxing function includes features such as fax forwarding, caller ID, and auto re-dial.
Samsung provides a platform that helps businesses become more productive and efficient. First, there is the eXtensible Open Architecture (XOA) web platform that allows users to run specific software straight from the printer, such as fleet management, document distribution, and output management. One benefit is that users does not need to worry about purchasing additional server and hardware.
Another platform is the Samsung Business Core Printing Solution (BCPS), which is a software suite that runs on the XOA-embedded platform. It was created for SMBs to improve workplace efficiency. With custom workflows, secure print release and cloud printing, IT managers can implement the kind of print and document management solutions typically seen for larger businesses. For larger businesses and enterprises, there is the Samsung Business Pro Solutions suite that includes features as output management, document distribution, account management, and fleet management.
Samsung offers an aftermarket 45,000-page toner cartridge in black, 30,000 pages in each color (C/M/Y), a 220,000-page drum in black, and a 180,000-page drum in color. We were not able to get prices of the cartridges at the time of the review, but based on the higher yields, users can expect to save money in the long run.

About
Samsung has long manufactured laser engines for printer and fax vendors such as Lexmark, NEC, and Xerox, but now the Korean company has become a major player in the laser printer market under its own name. Samsung also sells color printers, fax machines, and small-office multifunctional equipment under its own brand.
Samsung offers competitive laser printers up to 65ppm. Its printer division is growing in importance. Formerly a unit of the conglomerate’s Dallas-based telecom operation, the printer division has moved to New Jersey and now has the stature of a full-fledged Samsung subsidiary — a move that has facilitated its sales, marketing, and branding efforts.
In addition to its printers and MFPs, Samsung’s Business division also sells laptops and tablets, mobile devices, displays & TVs, and medical devices.
