Product Overview

Ricoh has recently added the SP 3710DN (and its multifunction sibling, the SP 3710SF) to its black-and-white lineup. The SP 3710DN prints at up to 34 ppm and has a first-page-time out of 7.1 seconds. It has a four-line LCD panel for checking printing job statuses and changing settings.

The SP 3710DN comes with a 350 MHz processor and 128 MB of memory. Warmup time is 23 seconds. PCL and PostScript printing languages are supported.

The device has standard USB and Ethernet connectivity. Wireless is optional. Mobile printing is supported via the Ricoh SmartDeviceConnector, AirPrint, Mopria and Google Cloud Print apps.

More details on the SP 3710DN is in our Features section below.

The SP 3710DN is a good buy for busy small-to-medium workgroups that don’t need multifunctionality or color output.

Features

Paper input starts with a 250-sheet tray and a 50-sheet bypass tray. Ricoh offers an optional 250-sheet tray for a maximum capacity of 550 sheets. The bypass tray supports envelope and banner printing, while the other trays support paper up to 8.5″ x 14″.

Automatic duplexing is standard. The output paper capacity is 125 sheets, and there are no finishing options. The maximum monthly duty cycle is 35,000 pages, but Ricoh recommends a monthly print volume of 5,800 pages.

Other printing features include collating, ability to not print blank pages, locked print, toner saver and watermark.

The SP 3710DN ships with a 7,000-page all-in-one print cartridge. The aftermarket cartridge also has 7,000 pages.

We don’t have the prices for the consumables so we were unable to calculate the cost per page. However, based on Ricoh’s history of low cost of ownership, we can expect that the cost-per-page will be reasonable.

Users can also save on print cartridge costs by utilizing the printer’s environmental features, such as duplexing and the N-up feature that allows users to print two pages in a single sheet.

Finally, there is a one-year warranty.
