Product Overview
The MP C6503 and MP C8003 are the new-generation high-volume MFPs that replace the older MP C6502 and MP C8002 that were released in 2013. The MP C6503 copies and prints at 65ppm in both black and color, while the MP C8003 has a speed of 80ppm in both black and color. Both devices offer standard copying, printing and scanning as well as optional faxing.
There is a warm-up time of 43 seconds on the MP C6503 and 39 seconds on the MP C8003. First-page-copy-times in color are 7.5 seconds and 6.3 seconds on the MP C6503 and MP C8003, respectively.
Both devices include a 1.9GHz processor, 4GB of memory and two 320GB hard drives. PCL is standard, but PostScript is optional. USB and Ethernet connectivity is standard, and Ricoh offers optional parallel and wireless connectivity. Mobile printing is supported via Ricoh’s Smart Device Connector app, as well as Airprint and Mopria certified.
Ricoh has improved its control panel by providing a 10.1″ touchscreen with touch-and-swipe functionality referred to as the Smart Operation Panel. Users can customize their own commonly-accessed workflows, such as one-touch printing or copying, applications or accessing the web. Users can download widgets and apps from Ricoh’s Application Site.

Like the MP C6004 Series, the MP C6503 and MP C8003 includes strong features for the large and enterprise organizations that require high printing needs.
Features
Paper supplies: Both devices come with four standard paper trays that include two 550-sheet trays, a 2,500-sheet tandem paper tray (fed from two 1,250-sheet trays) and a 100-sheet bypass. Users can optionally add a letter-sized 4,400-sheet large-capacity tray or add a 2,000-sheet 13″ x 19.2″ large-capacity tray. Total paper capacity is 8,100 sheets.
There is a standard 220-sheet single-pass duplexing document feeder.
Output and finishing features: The C6503 and C8003 starts with a standard 500-sheet output tray. There are multiple finishing options. First, there is a 3,000-sheet stapling finisher that staples up to 100 sheets. It includes a 2/3-hole punch kit as an option. Second, there is another 3,000-sheet finisher that only staples up to 65 sheets. It also offers an optional hole-punch kit. And finally, there is a 2,000-sheet booklet finisher that staples up to 65 sheets and saddle stitches up to 20-sheet booklets. There is an optional hole-punch kit as well.
There is also an optional nine-bin mailbox (100-sheet capacity per bin), a 200-sheet single interposer tray, a dual 200-sheet interposer tray, a multi-folder unit and support for professional printing options from GBC and Plockmatic.
Multifunctional features: Scan-to functions include email (with LDAP support), folder (SMB and FTP), and URL. Scan-to-media is supported with an optional USB/SD card slot option, which gives users the capability to scan to a USB flash drive and other similar devices.
There is a standard server for document management functionality that stores up to 3,000 documents, 2,000 pages per document and a maximum of 200 folders.
The optional fax kit runs at 33.6kbps with 4MB of memory. Users can purchase additional memory of up to 64MB. LAN fax and Internet fax is supported.
Security features: Ricoh continues to expand its security options, including the ability to make copying secure and confidential, user authentication, and the ability to set limits of printing by user. Also offered is watermarks, encrypted protection and hard drive data overwrite.

Shortcomings
PostScript is only available as an option – most devices in this level of the market usually include it as standard.
