Product Overview

The new C844dnw joins OKI’s lineup of single-function color printers. It prints at up to 36 ppm in both black and color, and has a first-page-out time of 6.3 seconds. It uses OKI’s new fusing technology that enables the printer to warm up within 20 seconds of turning the printer on (9.9 seconds from power save mode).

The C844dnw includes a 667 MHz processor and 1 GB of memory. The monthly duty cycle is up to 50,000 pages, but OKI recommends an average of 10,000 pages per month.

More details is in our Features section below.

The C844dnw is intended for small workgroups (up to 25 users) that not only need to print regular documents but graphics, such as marketing materials. It can easily fit on a desktop but also works as a standing printer with the addition of optional paper trays.

Features

The C844dnw includes PCL and PostScript printing language. It also includes standard USB, Ethernet and wireless connectivity. Mobile printing is also supported via apps such as Google Cloud Print 2.0 and Apple AirPrint.

Paper handling starts with a 300-sheet main tray and a 100-sheet bypass. OKI offers four additional 535-sheet trays as an option ($379 each) for a maximum capacity of 2,540 sheets. All of the accept up to 11″ x 17″ paper, while the bypass accommodates banner sizes of up to 52″.

Output consists of a 250-sheet bin.

The C844dnw contain a Utility Suite that includes features, such as color correct, color swatch utility, print job accounting, profile assistant and a monitoring tool, to name a few.

As with other OKI devices, the C844dnw includes energy-saving features such as duplexing, Deep Sleep mode, LED printing technology and Toner Save mode.

There are four aftermarket toner cartridges with a capacity of 10,000 pages each: black, magenta, yellow and cyan. Each image drum has a capacity of 30,000 pages each. Additional consumables include a fuser (100,000 pages) and a transfer belt (80,000 pages). Based on all the consumables (including the image drums, transfer belt and fuser), the cost per page is 2.3 cents in black and 10.5 cents in color. Between the page yield of each consumable and OKI’s energy-saving features, companies can save on operating costs.

The C844dnw has a one-year on-site warranty and a five-year limited warranty on the LED printheads.
