Product Overview

Cougar Mountain offers two accounting solutions, Denali Business (for most industries) and Denali Fund (for non-profits and public service organizations).

Denali Business is an on-premise solution that’s customizable to fit the needs of the business. It has a modular design, so companies can either purchase the modules they need or purchase the entire software suite.

One main benefit of Denali Business is that it’s installed on a company’s server, so a company that has concerns of data security can have control of hosting their own data. Denali includes security features to prevent any threats, such as granular security, so users control who can access the data or modules. The audit trail feature prevents fraud by not allowing any account activity to be hidden or removed.

Denali Business comes in three tiers: Basecamp, Ascent and Summit. Basecamp is the base tier that’s intended for smaller businesses that are migrating from spreadsheets or QuickBooks. Ascent is the middle tier and is intended for businesses that want additional modules, such as reporting or inventory. The Summit tier is meant for companies with multiple locations or that want advanced features.

Cougar Mountain offers a dedicated payroll solution called Denali Payroll that can be purchased as a stand-alone solution or as part of the Summit tier. Denali Payroll includes flexible payroll processing, automatic calculations of taxes and other deductions, check printing and payroll reporting.

Denali Fund specifically helps non-profits and public service organizations track their finances. It’s a scalable platform that allows non-profits to track an unlimited amount of funds. It includes the same security features as Denali Business so organizations can maintain oversight of their funds. There’s also a unique feature where each fund has its own fiscal year. Denali Fund has the same pricing tiers as Denali Business.

The Basecamp tier includes these modules/features:

• General ledger
• Accounts payable
• Accounts receivable
• Bank reconciliation
• Audit trail
• Controller (for running global reports and adding three-tier security)
• At-a-glance dashboard with real-time views of financial data
• 8 hours of support and phone/online training
• Software assurance plan for the first year that consists of access to knowledge base, software updates and discounts on additional support and classroom-based training

In addition to the features of the Basecamp tier, the Ascent tier includes:

• Inventory management
• Order entry
• Denali Reporting (ability to use and modify built-in reporting templates)

The Summit tier includes all features of the other two tiers, plus:

• Payroll
• Purchase order management
• Multi-location inventory
• Aatrix tax forms

We want to mention that Denali Reporting integrates with Crystal Reports, a business intelligence reporting tool from SAP. Crystal Reports pulls in data from any source, such as Microsoft Excel and SQL Server and Oracle databases. However, the Crystal Reports integration is an add-on solution.

Implementation/Integration

The implementation process and timeline can vary depending on the client’s requirements. We want to note that Cougar Mountain’s IT Services can convert data from QuickBooks into Denali.

Denali integrates with Archarina productivity apps, the eCommerce platform 3dCart, time-tracking software Tsheets and sales tax automation software Avalara.

Customer Service & Support

Cougar Mountain offers a variety of training opportunities: Cougar University, where classroom-based trainings are held at the vendor’s corporate headquarters or in regional locations; in-person training at the client’s site; or phone-based training with screen-sharing capabilities.

Cougar Mountain has a support portal where users can access help guides, technical manuals and information on software updates. There’s also a help site where users can find troubleshooting information on various Denali features.
