Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a cloud-based ERP solution with advanced customer relationship management functionalities. It helps companies make better decisions with data-driven insights, and it improves productivity by automating manual business processes. Microsoft Dynamics 365 has several applications, such as Sales, Marketing, Finance and Human Resources.

In this post, we’ll describe the Microsoft Dynamics 365 pricing in detail.

How Much is Microsoft Dynamics 365?

Microsoft Dynamics 365 consists of applications that target specific business areas (e.g., Sales, Finance, Supply Chain). Users can purchase individual subscriptions of any of the applications rather than having to pay for the entire platform.

User Types

Microsoft Dynamics 365 pricing is based on named user subscription licenses. It classifies users into two main types:

Full Users

This refers to licenses that give users full access to the features of any of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 applications (e.g., Sales, Customer Service, Accounting). The per-user pricing models refer to full user access.

Light Users (Team Members)

These are users that will only need access to certain features (e.g., employee leave management, read-only reports). One of the applications that uses a Team Members License is Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Licensing

Per User

The licensing for most Dynamics 365 applications (e.g., Sales, Finance, Customer Data Platform, Project Operations, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Field Service) is based on a per user, per month pricing strategy. Companies can purchase any of these applications as a Base License. If they want to add on other applications, Attach Licenses can be purchased at a low cost. Microsoft notes that each Attach License can only be assigned to a user with a qualifying prerequisite Base License.

Per Tenant

Note that pricing for some of the applications is based on per tenant rather than per user. For example, the Marketing application uses the per tenant, per month strategy.

Pricing Model

We provide the prices of each Microsoft Dynamics 365 application below. Note that the subscription includes data security, 99% or above uptime SLA, intelligent technology, integration with Microsoft 365 and phone and web support.

Customer Data Platform

The Dynamics 365 Customer Data Platform gives users a 360-degree view of the customer in real time. The platform has two main applications: Dynamics 365 Customer Insights and Dynamics 365 Customer Voice.

Customer Insights provides AI tools for measuring and predicting customer behavior, and it starts at $1,500 per tenant, per month. The price covers up to 100,000 profiles. Companies that have purchased other qualifying Dynamics 365 applications can add on Customer Insights at just $1,000 per tenant, per month.

The Customer Voice application empowers businesses to manage customer sentiment with surveys and other feedback. It’s included in the subscription for Customer Insights and some other Dynamics 365 applications, such as the Sales Enterprise tier, the Customer Service Enterprise tier, Field Service, Marketing, and Human Resources. The subscription covers up to 2,000 survey responses per tenant, per month. For customers that don’t have any of these aforementioned applications, Customer Voice costs $200 per tenant, per month.

Customer Service

Three applications fall under the Customer Service area: Dynamics 365 Customer Service, Dynamics 365 Field Service and Dynamics 365 Remote Assist. The Dynamics 365 Customer Service application has two tiers: Professional and Enterprise. The Professional tier includes core customer service features (e.g., self-service portal, case management, basic insights) for $50 per user, per month. The Enterprise tier has more advanced features for $95 per user, per month, and it offers add-on features like Digital Messaging ($75 per user, per month) and live chat ($65 per user, per month).

Both tiers offer the optional Power Virtual Agents (chatbots) feature for $1,000 per month.

The Dynamics 365 Field Service application empowers businesses to provide better customer service in the field, and it costs $95 per user, per month. The Dynamics 365 Remote Assist application allows users to provide remote customer support for $65 per user, per month.

Note that for each Customer Service application, there’s an Attach Licensing price for $20 per user, per month for companies that purchase a Base License of another qualifying Dynamics 365 solution.

Implementation

Some of the applications come with a 30-day free trial, and users can simply sign up via Microsoft’s site. After the free trial ends, they’ll need to select a licensing plan. The Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementation process is handled by a certified implementation partner. Pricing can vary based on the partner and the services they offer.

FastTrack

It’s also worth noting that Microsoft has launched an onboarding program, called FastTrack, that helps organizations deploy their software faster. FastTrack provides tools, expert advice and best practices on rolling out Dynamics 365 throughout the organization. Users can participate in strategic workshops and learn from Microsoft’s engineering team via the Success by Design Course on designing and implementing Dynamics 365. In addition, FastTrack offers live webinars on specific Dynamics 365 applications.

The FastTrack program is complementary and is only available by nomination. Microsoft has more information on eligibility requirements.

Support

As noted above, all Microsoft Dynamics 365 subscriptions include phone and web support. In addition, Microsoft offers community forums, a service dashboard, access to Microsoft Dynamics self-help portals, 24/7 support for Severity A (critical) cases, under one hour response time for critical incidents, lifecycle services and as-needed online training.

There are three optional support plans:

Conclusion

Microsoft Dynamics 365 allows businesses to purchase individual applications based on their needs and then scale up or down over time. Most of the applications’ pricing is based on the per user strategy, but as mentioned, some of the applications’ pricing is based on the per tenant strategy. Also, you’ll want to consider additional costs, such as implementation and advanced support.
