Product Overview

The new WorkCentre 3335 and 3345 Multifunction Printer, along with the Phaser 3330 Printer, are Xerox’s latest entries in its black-and-white lineup. They both offer standard printing, copying, scanning and faxing features. The WorkCentre 3335 ($349) prints and copies at 35ppm and includes a 50,000-page monthly duty cycle. The WorkCentre 3345 ($449) prints and copies at 42ppm with a monthly duty cycle of 80,000 pages.

Aside from speed, duty cycle and document feeder (the WorkCentre 3345 includes a reversing automatic document feeder while the other device does not), both machines share identical features.

Both devices include a 1GHz processor and 1.5GB of memory. First-page-out time is a fast 6.5 seconds.

More details on these MFPs is in our Features section below.

The WorkCentre 3335 and 3345 are ideal for small departments and offices that don’t have a need for color printing or printing large volumes of paper. Not only are they affordable for small businesses, but those businesses can save money in the long run with three options for aftermarket print cartridges that contribute to low operating costs.

Features

Both machines support PCL, PostScript and direct PDF printing languages. USB, Ethernet and Wi-Fi are all standard connectivity features. Mobile printing is also supported by way of Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, Mopria and Xerox Print Service Plug in for Android devices. Also, users with Android-based devices can print from their phones or tablets with the optional Near Field Communication (NFC) kit.

Paper handling starts with a 250-sheet tray and a 150-sheet bypass that both accepts up to 8.5″ x 14″ paper. There is an optional 550-sheet tray for a maximum capacity of 850 sheets. Output consists of a 150-sheet tray. There’s no finishing options. The WorkCentre 3335 includes a 50-sheet automatic document feeder, while the WorkCentre 3345 includes a 50-sheet reversing automatic document feeder. Automatic duplexing is supported.

Color scanning is supported. The devices support scanning to a variety of destinations, including network, email, folder, USB, WIA and TWAIN.

The faxing function includes a 33.6kbps modem with JBIG compression. PC fax, secure fax and color fax are some of the features offered.

Xerox offers a choice of three aftermarket print cartridges: a standard capacity (2,600-page yield), a high-capacity (8,500 pages) and an extra-high-capacity (15,000 pages). Based on the figures for the extra-high-capacity cartridge, we’ve calculated the cost per page at approximately 2 cents. That’s an affordable operating cost for a smaller office.

Security features includes IPsec, IP Filtering, secure print and wireless security (WPA and WEP codes), to name a few.

Shortcomings

Finishing options are not available on these devices. There’s also no hard drive available. And finally, they’re not intended for large businesses.
