Product Overview

The SP 325 Series joins the SP 377 Series as Ricoh’s newest black-and-white devices intended for small businesses. The SP 325DNw ($169) is a single-function printer, while the SP 325SFNw ($305) is its multifunctional sibling. Both devices print at 30ppm and a first-page-time of 8 seconds.

The SP 325 Series share similar features to the SP 377 Series, however, they don’t offer a 6,400-page  aftermarket print cartridge that the SP 377 Series does.

Both devices start with a 360MHz processor and a 128MB of memory (not expandable). PCL printing is supported. Standard connectivity includes USB, Ethernet and Wi-Fi. Mobile printing is supported via the Ricoh Smart Device Print&Scan app. Users of Android devices can print from their smartphones with Mopria support.

More details are in our Features section below.

The Ricoh SP 325 Series is targeted to small offices that are looking for an affordable way to keep printing costs down but want a device flexible enough to accommodate remote employees.

Features

The maximum paper capacity is 300 sheets that consists of a 250-sheet tray and a 50-sheet bypass. Output capacity is 125 sheets on the SP 325DNw and 50 sheets on the SP 325SFNw. The SP 325SFNw also has a standard 35-sheet reversing document feeder. There are no finishing options.

The SP 325SFNw includes standard copying, scanning and faxing features. The scanning function supports scan-to-email, scan-to-folder, scan-to-FTP and scan-to-USB. Color scanning is also supported. The faxing function includes a 33.6kbps modem, color faxing and PC faxing.

Both devices are shipped with a 1,000-page all-in-one print cartridge. Replacement cartridges has a yield of 3,500 pages. We don’t have the numbers to calculate the cost-per-page but based on Ricoh’s history with providing low costs of ownership, we expect the cost to be very reasonable for a small business.

There are other environmental features designed to help save printing costs, such as duplexing, sleep mode and toner save mode.

And finally, both products include a one-year warranty.

Shortcomings

The PostScript printing language is not supported, even as an option. As they’re intended for small offices, the paper capacity is lower than compared to other 25ppm-30ppm devices.
