Product Overview

The IM C300/IM C400SRF Series joins Ricoh’s line of Intelligent Devices that allow businesses to access the latest technological features without having to buy a new MFP. Administrators simply download any new application, feature, or upgrade from the device as soon as they’re available, thanks to Ricoh’s Always Current technology.

The series includes three devices that offer standard printing, copying, scanning and faxing. The IM C300F prints at up to 31 ppm in black and color and also has a maximum paper capacity of 2,000 sheets. The IM C400F ($4,875 MSRP) prints at up to 45 ppm in black and 42 ppm in color and has a maximum paper capacity of 2,300 sheets. The IM C400SRF ($5,575 MSRP) shares the same specifications as the IM C400F, and includes a standard internal finisher.

All three devices have a 10.1″ Smart Operation Panel, which includes improvements such as an upgraded processor for faster access to applications. The panel can be personalized with the client’s logo, and also includes web-help and how-to videos for guiding end users.

Ricoh also offers customized applications or workflows that can be standardized throughout the company or within cloud-hosted user profiles (so individuals or departments can access specific workflows). Those settings or workflows can be rolled over to the new device once the current MFP reaches end of life.

More details are in our Features section below. We want to note that the IM C400F/IM C400SRF are currently available, but the IM C300F will be launched in the U.S. in March.

Features

Paper input: The IM C300F includes a 250-sheet tray and a 100-sheet bypass. The IM C400F/C400SRF has a 550-sheet tray and a 100-sheet bypass. Users can optionally add up to three 550-sheet trays, and Ricoh offers a choice of a low, medium or tall cabinets, as well as a caster table to allow a variety of configurations while still maintaining optimal height for users. The maximum paper capacity is 2,000 sheets on the IM C300F and 2,300 sheets on the other two devices. The trays support up to legal-sized (8.5″ x 14″) paper. There’s also a standard 50-sheet single-pass duplexing feeder that offers increased duplex scan speeds and reduces wear and tear on originals.

Output and finishing features: The IM C300F and IM C400F have a 100-sheet output tray, and users can optionally add a 100-sheet bin to separate selected output, such as incoming faxes. As mentioned, the IM C400SRF has a standard internal finisher with a 250-sheet capacity that offers stapling of up to 50 sheets per set.

Multifunctional features: All three devices include a 1.3 GHz processor, 2 GB of memory and a 320 GB hard drive. PCL and a PostScript emulation is standard. Genuine Adobe PostScript is optional. USB and Ethernet connectivity is standard, and wireless is optional. The devices support mobile printing and scanning via Ricoh’s Smart Device Connector app, Mopria and Apple AirPrint.

Scan-to functions include email, folder (SMB and FTP) and USB, and the devices support PDF, JPEG, TIFF, high-compression PDF and PDF/A file formats.

Faxing features include a 33.6kbps modem with a 40 ppm simplex scanning speed.

Shortcomings

The Adobe PostScript is only offered as an option, so users who prefer this as a standard feature may consider this a shortcoming. Also, the devices aren’t intended for office with very low-volume printing needs.
