Product Overview

The P8060cdn has recently joined the Kyocera ECOSYS line of single-function printers. At $6,188 (MSRP), the P8060dn prints at up to 60ppm in both black and color. Warm-up time is 17 seconds and the first-page-out time is 5.1 seconds in color.

The P8060cdn includes a 1.2GHz processor, 4GB of memory and a 320GB hard drive standard. The memory can be optionally expanded to 8GB. PCL and PostScript are standard as well as XPS and PDF direct print. The P8060dn also supports USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and mobile printing as standard features. Users can print from their mobile devices via Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print or Kyocera’s dedicated mobile print app.

There is a 9″ color touchscreen control panel for accessing commonly-used workflows. The P8060cdn utilizes Kyocera’s PRESCRIBE and COMMAND CENTER RX business applications. With the PRESCRIBE app, users can create, store and print commonly-used forms from the printer. The COMMAND CENTER RX app allows users and administrators to look up paper availability, toner status and other statuses of the device via a web browser.

More details is in our Features section below.

The ECOSYS P8060cdn is intended for large companies with high-volume printing needs that doesn’t require copying or scanning functionality.

Features

Paper handling starts with two 500-sheet trays and a 150-sheet bypass. Kyocera offers optional paper input trays, such as two additional 500-sheet trays, a set of two 1,500-sheet trays and a 3,000-sheet side large capacity tray. With the exception of a single 500-sheet tray, all trays support paper size of up to 12″ x 18″. Maximum paper capacity is 7,150 sheets.

Duplexing is supported. There is a monthly duty cycle of 250,000 sheets.

Output capacity is 500 sheets. There are a few finishing options.

First, there is a 1,000-sheet finisher with 50-sheet multiposition stapling. A 2-/3-hole punch kit is optionally added to this finisher.

Second, there is a 4,000-sheet finisher with 65-sheet multiposition stapling. A few additional units can be optionally added: a 2-/3-hole punch kit, a booklet folder/tri-fold unit and a seven-tray multi-bin mailbox with a capacity of 100 sheets in each tray.

The P8060cdn also utilizes Kyocera Fleet Services, which is a cloud-based monitoring service for dealers to handle maintenance tasks for their clients remotely.

And finally, the standard security features includes local and network authentication and LDAP, to name a few. There is an optional data security kit that contains hard drive overwrite and data encryption.

Shortcomings

The P8060cdn may be too robust for a small or medium-sized office. Also, we don’t have any information to calculate the cost per page of the consumables. But based on Kyocera’s history of providing long-life consumables and other environmental features, the client can expect low cost per page over the life of the printer.
