Product Overview

The PageWide Pro 777z MFP is part of a new series of tabloid-sized (11″ x 17″), or A3, printers and MFPs in HP’s lineup. It can print at up to 45ppm in black and color in professional mode and up to 65ppm in general office mode. The first-page-out time is 7.7 seconds in black and color. The PageWide Pro 777z MFP includes standard printing, copying, scanning and faxing.

There is a 1.5GHz processor and 1.5GB of memory, not expandable. There is a 8″ color touchscreen for accessing common printing workflows. PCL and PostScript is supported.

USB, Ethernet, wireless and Bluetooth connectivity are also supported. Users can print from their mobile devices via the HP Mobile app, Google CloudPrint and Apple AirPrint.

More details on this printer is in our Features section below.

Please note that HP doesn’t provide pricing details; prices are set by the reseller.

With its strong security, configurable print speed settings, standard wireless, and 8″ interface, the PageWide Pro 777z MFP is a good choice for offices with medium-to-high-volume printing looking for both color output and multifunctionality.

Features

Standard paper handling includes a set of two 550-sheet tandem trays and a 100-sheet bypass. HP offers a few paper input options for a maximum capacity of over 4,000 sheets. First, there is a 550-sheet paper tray. Second, there is an additional 550-sheet tray that includes a paper stand. There’s also a set of three 550-sheet trays and finally, a 4,000-sheet high-capacity tray.

Paper output consists of a 500-sheet face-down bin. There’s no finishing options.

The monthly duty cycle is 100,000 pages, but HP recommends a range of 2,500 to 25,000 pages per month. There’s a 100-sheet automatic document feeder. Automatic duplexing is supported.

The scanning function supports scan-to-email, scan-to-network, scan-to-USB, and scan-to-Sharepoint. File formats include JPEG, PDF, PNG and TIFF.

The faxing function includes a 33.6kbps modem and up to 500 pages of fax memory. Digital faxing is supported.

The 777z MFP ships with a 10,000-page black cartridge and three 6,000-page color cartridges. HP offers high-yield aftermarket cartridges of 20,000 pages for black and 16,000 pages for the three colors.

As the prices of the toner cartridges are determined by the reseller, we don’t have enough information to calculate the cost per page. However, HP has a strong history of providing low operating costs and the 750dw Printer would be no different. The high-yield cartridges, duplexing and other environmental features also contributes to lower printing costs.

The 777z MFP includes a wide range of security features. One particular feature is the HP Sure Start security feature that helps prevent any viruses, malware or other attacks. With the Sure Start feature, a printer can self-detect an attempted attack and if such an attack occurs, will reboot itself and send a notification to the IT administrator. Other security features include user authentication and secure PIN printing.

And finally, there’s a one-year on-site warranty.

Shortcomings

The PageWide Pro 777z MFP can’t be purchased via HP’s site, rather, it’s available via resellers, such as an office equipment dealer or Staples.

Also, it’s not intended for office with low-volume printing needs.

Finally, HP doesn’t offer finishers for this device, even as an option. However, it plans to offer a model with an inner finisher in the Spring of 2018.
