Product Overview

The fi-7140 ($995) and fi-7240 ($1,595) joins Fujitsu’s lineup of robust workgroup scanners. They scan at up to 40 ppm (simplex) and 80 ipm (duplex) in both black and color, and include a 80-sheet automatic document feeder. The main difference between two scanners is that the fi-7240 includes an optional flatbed platen.

The fi-7140 and fi-7240 can scan a variety of documents from plastic cards to long paper up to 220″. The minimum paper size is 2″ x 2.13″ and the maximum paper size is 8.5″ x 14″. Ultrasonic multi-feed detection is supported. USB connectivity is standard.

Features

Scan input resolution can go up to 600 dpi (with 1,200 dpi interpolation) in both grayscale and color. Color scanning at 300 dpi is supported. There is a wide range of image enhancement tools such as noise removal, automatic color detection, blank page detection and thresholding, as well as image orientation and paper deskew.

Fujitsu also includes its Scanner Central Admin functionality which allows users to perform scanner monitoring features (such as running status and consumable status) from a single location. Fujitsu also introduces several features with these scanners, such as a “skew reducer” function that detect and corrects paper skews of various documents.  Another feature is the acoustic sensor that monitors sounds of a scanning document and stops the scans once an error is detected.

Fujitsu also includes its PaperStream IP and PaperStream Capture for document management functionality.

An optional postscan imprinter is available. It allows users to adjust the printing position of up to 40 characters that can include a date-and-time stamp and sequence numbering in a user-defined string.

Finally, there’s a one-year limited warranty with advanced exchange.
