Product Overview
Epson has recently released a new line of all-in-one printers aimed at its BusinessFirst reseller network. All devices include extended warranty and additional ink out of the box. One of those printers is the WorkForce WF-7720 Business Edition ($399.99).
The WorkForce WF-7720 has standard printing, copying, scanning and faxing functions. It also includes a 4.3″ color touchscreen control panel. Print speed is up to 18 ppm (ISO) in black and up to 10 ppm (ISO) in color. Copy speed is up to 16 cpm (ISO) in black and up to 8. 8cpm (ISO) in color.
Similar to other Epson devices, the WorkForce WF-7720 Business Edition uses Epson’s inkjet technology, PrecisionCore. PrecsionCore uses a high-density print chip that can generate up to 40 million precise dots per second.
USB, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi connectivity. Mobile printing is also supported via the Epson Connect solution. Within the Epson Connect are the following features: Email Print, iPrint Mobile App, and Remote Print. Users can also print via the Apple AirPrint, Kindle Fire and Google Cloud Print.
Note that the WF-7720 Business Edition has similar specifications as the WorkForce WF-7710 Series. However, the WF-7720 Business Edition comes with a two-year limited warranty. It also includes a set of initial ink cartridges and a set of standard-capacity ink cartridges. Each set has four cartridges (black, cyan, yellow and magenta), so there’s eight ink cartridges altogether.
More details is in our Features section below.
With its flexible paper handling and capacity, mobile printing, extended warranty, and lower operating costs, the WorkForce WF-7720 Business Edition can be a good buy for small offices looking for wide-format multifunctionality.
Features
Paper handling consists of two 250-sheet trays. There’s also a rear-feed specialty tray and a 35-sheet automatic document feeder.
Output capacity is 125 sheets. As it’s a wide-format printer, the WF-7720 supports paper sizes of up to 13″ x 19″. Automatic duplexing is standard.
Scanning is done via a color CIS sensor. It supports scan-to-PC, scan-to-cloud, scan-to-email, scan-to-flash drive and scan-to-PDF.
Faxing is supported via a 33.6kbps modem. Memory is up to 550 pages and PC faxing is standard.
In terms of replacement ink, Epson offers both standard and high-capacity ink in four individual cartridges. It also offers an extra-high-capacity black ink cartridges with a yield of 2,200 pages. We’ve done our cost-per-page calculations based on the yield and prices of the extra-high-capacity black and high-capacity yellow/cyan/magenta cartridges. Therefore, the cost per page is 3.1 cents in black and 11.3 cents in color.
These calculations prove that the operating costs are pretty reasonable (color cost per page can average 15 cents in inkjet devices). By using the higher capacity replacement ink cartridges, duplex printing and other environmental features, users can save on printing costs in the long run.
