Features
Standard paper handling starts with two 250-sheet trays and a 50-sheet rear feed for a maximum capacity of 550 sheets. There’s also a 50-sheet automatic document feeder. The devices support up to 8.5″ x 14″ in paper size. The monthly duty cycle is 66,000 pages, but Epson recommends a monthly page volume of up to 3,300 pages.
Copy speed is up to 22 cpm (ISO) in black and color on the ET-5850 and ET-5880. Some copy features include multipage copying, automatic reduction and enlargement, ID copy and adjustable copy density.
Users can scan documents either via the flatbed CIS scanner or the automatic document feeder. Color scanning is supported, as well as scan-to-cloud, scan-to-email, scan-to-USB and scan-to-FTP.
The faxing function uses the 33.6kbps modem and up to 550 pages of memory. Some faxing features are PC faxing and color faxing.
Each device includes two black ink bottles and two bottles each of cyan, magenta and yellow ink. Those ink bottles has a yield of 7,500 pages in black and 6,000 pages in each color. Epson has introduced a new program, Unlimited Ink for Two Years, that allows users to be reimbursed for replacement ink bottles if they purchase and register their EcoTank Pro Series printer.
Based on our calculations, the cost per page in black is roughly a penny and approximately 2 cents in color. Businesses can save money as the ink bottles has high capacity and if they take advantage of the Unlimited Ink for Two Years program.
Finally, there’s a two-year limited warranty.

About
Epson America is a division of Japan-based Seiko Epson Corporation, a manufacturer and supplier of imaging products, semiconductors, liquid crystal displays, and watches. The company has been an innovative designer of ink jet printers and sells an extensive product line. Most of these are geared to home and school use, but Epson continues to extend its line further into the office environment.
Epson has been making a more aggressive play for the document scanner market, although the company’s been in the multipurpose office scanner business for years. The models and other additions to its model line seem to be part of an effort to further extend its current scanner technology. As part of this effort, Epson makes these scanners available in consumer electronics stores such as Best Buy, along with Epson dealers and on its website.
