ActiveDEMAND At A Glance

Good: Ability to track offline marketing efforts and manage all social media promotion within one interface, appointment scheduling functionality.
Bad: There can be a steep learning curve, training options beyond how-to videos aren't offered.
Bottom Line: Integrated marketing automation platform for both marketing agencies and in-house marketers to track offline and online marketing efforts.

Product Overview

ActiveDEMAND is a cloud-based integrated marketing automation solution designed to help both digital marketing agencies and corporate marketers successfully run campaigns and other marketing efforts.

ActiveDEMAND incorporates marketing features into its platform that are typically sold separately. Some of those features include:

  • Call tracking and recording
  • Email marketing
  • Landing pages
  • Campaign building and tracking

Businesses can save money by not purchasing various solutions to get these features.

For digital marketing agencies, there’s a dedicated marketing agency solution with a free portal. Agencies can use this free portal to manage all of their clients within one interface. They can add unlimited client accounts with each client’s brand. The portal is also white-labeled, meaning that any communications or features reflect the agency’s brand, not ActiveDEMAND’s.

The agency portal includes standard features such as lead nurturing, lead scoring, full funnel engagement, branded online assets for clients and reporting templates with drag-and-drop functionality. Agencies can also add on ActiveDEMAND’s call tracking or email marketing solutions.

For businesses with in-house marketing staff, ActiveDEMAND offers its small business marketing automation and its corporate marketing automation solutions. Each solution helps marketers manage their contacts, nurture campaigns, and set up and track landing pages, emails and social media plans. The corporate marketing automation software has an added benefit – it helps marketers align with their sales teams by using sales intelligence tools that send qualified leads to sales for follow up.

We detail the differences in each solution in our Features section below.

Finally, each solution is scalable, so companies whose business structure changes (e.g., adding new marketers or contacts) can upgrade or downgrade to a pricing tier that fits their needs while taking advantage of the same features.

Features

Here are the standard features included in the small business marketing automation solution:

  • Call tracking functionality, including call numbers, analytics, text campaign scheduling, call recording, click to call, robo calling and geo IP-based call routing
  • Email marketing features, including contact lists and databases, autoresponders, newsletter templates, email opt-in/opt-out, split/multi-variate testing, drip campaigns and dynamic email content
  • Landing page features, including templates and a designer, a microsite builder, A/B split testing and exit intent popups
  • Campaign management, such as social media posting, goal setting for campaigns, image hosting, a URL shortener and campaign templates
  • Web forms with spam filtering, surveys, hosted landing pages and a form captcha
  • Reporting and analytics tools, including marketing dashboards, prospect/contact tracking, visitor timeline and email notifications
  • Appointment scheduling functionality
  • URL whitelabeling

The corporate marketing automation solution has the same features offered in the small business automation solution. However, it also includes:

  • Campaign variables
  • Event marketing
  • Content approval process
  • Multi-step campaign functionality
  • Custom lead-processing workflows
  • Custom email reporting
  • Lead management
  • Ability to offer assets to prospects via a paywall
  • Multiple user accounts

Implementation/Integration

ActiveDEMAND provides users with a free trial for its email marketing and small business marketing automation solutions. Prospects interested in its corporate marketing automation solution can sign up for a demo.

It also offers template migration services for companies that want to use their existing landing pages, email templates or marketing popup templates. The landing page template migration costs $175. The email template migration and marketing popup template migration each cost $100.

ActiveDEMAND offers how-to training videos and articles on various features, including integration, building emails/newsletters and working with dashboards. Those videos are housed in its Getting Started section on its support site.

The solution integrates with a variety of applications, such as social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest), customer relationship management (CRM) software, WordPress, Pipedrive, Google Analytics/AdWords, Zapier, Google Calendar and Microsoft Office 365. It also integrates with Live Chat, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, GoToWebinar and Salesforce applications, but only through the corporate marketing automation solution.

Customer Service & Support

Users can contact ActiveDEMAND by phone, email or live chat. They can also access the support portal to submit a ticket, browse through the knowledge base of frequently asked questions or participate in community forums with other users.

Additionally, ActiveDEMAND offers tips and on-demand webinars on marketing automation topics.

Pricing

ActiveDEMAND has a variety of pricing plans for its solutions. Each plan is then sorted into separate tiers.

The small business marketing automation solution has four pricing tiers. Each tier includes unlimited emails, landing pages, form submissions and image hosting:

  • Up to 100 contacts: $69 per month, paid annually
  • Up to 1,000 contacts: $109 per month, paid annually
  • Up to 5,000 contacts: $149 per month, paid annually
  • Over 5,000 contacts: Contact ActiveDEMAND for a quote

Unlike the small business marketing automation solution that’s limited to one user, the corporate marketing solution accepts multiple users. It also has four pricing tiers, which include unlimited emails, landing pages, form submissions and image hosting:

  • Up to 100 contacts: $199 per month, paid annually
  • Up to 1,000 contacts: $399 per month, paid annually
  • Up to 5,000 contacts: $549 per month, paid annually
  • Over 5,000 contacts: Contact ActiveDEMAND for a quote

ActiveDEMAND doesn’t charge marketing agencies a base fee for its features. However, agencies can purchase the call tracking software and/or the email marketing software.

The call tracking software doesn’t require a monthly subscription. Its pricing is based on tracking local numbers or toll-free numbers. The local number tracking plan is priced at $2.75 a month (or 4 cents a minute), while the toll-free plan costs $3.50 a month (or 5 cents a minute). Both plans include the following features: lead scoring, social media campaigns, SMS campaigns, robo call campaigns, lead distribution workflows and integration to Google Analytics and Google AdWords.

The email marketing software is designed for companies that want just the email marketing functionality. It’s priced in four tiers and offers unlimited emails, form submissions and image hosting:

  • Up to 100 contacts: $15 per month, paid annually
  • Up to 1,000 contacts: $25 per month, paid annually
  • Up to 5,000 contacts: $65 per month, paid annually
  • Over 5,000 contacts: Contact ActiveDEMAND for a quote

Shortcomings

Some users have reported that ActiveDEMAND is too robust, and there’s a learning curve to adjust to the software. One suggestion is to add contextual help within the software that provides key tips. Additional training options aren’t offered beyond videos, but ActiveDEMAND’s staff provides phone and email support for new users.
