Costpoint At A Glance
Product Overview
Costpoint is an ERP solution from Deltek designed for government contractors. The platform simplifies project-based billing, revenue recognition, expense management, and compliance. Users can streamline the entire contract lifecycle from start to finish, along with comparing progress and conducting “what-if” analysis.
Costpoint modules include:
- Contract management
- Project management
- Procurement
- Manufacturing
- Subcontractor management
- Project accounting
- Business intelligence
- Human capital management
- Time and expense
Companies can compare actual progress against the planned schedule, as well as highlight achievements and pain points. Costpoint’s “what-if” analysis helps customers envision multiple project outcomes. Information flows through a unified database from contracts, procurement, manufacturing, inventory and subcontractors to finance and accounting.
Costpoint helps companies comply with federal, state and local regulations. The platform undergoes annual SOC 1, 2 & 3 Type II audits and can help contractors with NIST SP 800-171 compliance requirements.
Finally, Deltek Costpoint has a solution aimed specifically at smaller government contractors. It includes basic modules, such as project accounting and time and expense, and smaller agencies can scale up if needed.
Features
The key features of each module are:
Contract management – Track bid and proposal costs, as well as overall contract and funded values. Record contract modifications, Federal Acquisition Regulation clauses, Organizational Conflicts of Interest and Limitations of Costs. This module can be integrated with Deltek GovWin IQ software.
Project management – Budget and plan resources against projected revenue. Analyze aggregate project performance with a bottoms-up view by revenue, utilization and profit.
Procurement – Track requisitions through procurement, receiving, inspection and accounts payable. Generate purchase orders from approved requisitions without duplicate entry.
Manufacturing – Coordinate labor and resources with real-time transactional data and traceability. Monitor inventory and quality assurance processes.
Subcontractor management – Schedule and approve subcontractor work assignments, purchase orders, invoices and time entry. This module can be integrated with project management, procurement, human capital management, and time and expense modules.
Project accounting – Generate incurred costs, billing and timekeeping reports that are compliant with the Defense Contractor Audit Agency and other regulators. Create milestone invoices, in addition to project status and percent complete reports. The software also uses Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR) to lift data from scanned invoices and automatically populate them in the system. It also uses machine learning to “remember”specific data so the invoice conversion can be more accurate over time.
Business intelligence – View real-time data, trends and key performance indicators using role-based dashboards. Visualize business performance through interactive, embedded and ad-hoc reports. In addition, users can get more out of their data with the AI Assistant by typing in a question and getting an answer in the form of a graph or other visualizations.
Human capital management – Source, hire and onboard employees with online tools. Manage time and leave, payroll, subcontractors and compliance documents.
Time and expense – Enter employee time and expenses through web-based or mobile apps designed specifically for project-based businesses. Automate collection, validation, approval, and processing of labor and expenses.
